SONIC...Harker Heights location

I know the SONIC drive in burger place gets alot of business but, has anyone noticed that their food is always lukewarm???? By the time I get home my burger is to the point of having to put the meat in the microwave. I was just wondering if I'm the only one who has noticed this. All other Sonic's I've visited (Belton, Killeen, Cove, etc.) do not serve cold food as this location does, therefore I've stopped patronizing them.  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #1)

OUTRAGEOUS Electric Bills

The worst part about this whole issue is....for years and years...the electric companies have found it convenient to increase electric bills during the holidays, as if EVERYONE celebrates with all the lighting and extra cooking. That is not true for many of us but, this time they have gone way over board. I still patiently wait for a call from a representative, and it has been a week now. :-(  (Feb 6, 2010 | post #8)

The crack head at indian trail and 190

Sometimes I think the guy on the corner is playing a role to get a check....I don't think I'd get in his taxi though. When I see him, I just smile and wish I had the energy he has to get out everyday and exert the energy it takes to do all he does. One day I encountered him in the McDonald's and became slightly afraid until he began to speak to me, concerning an order I had ordered. The man speaks rather intelligently. Often times we tend to judge a book by it's cover instead of reading the contents first. Just my two cents...*smile*  (Feb 3, 2010 | post #21)

OUTRAGEOUS Electric Bills

I listened to the news tonight 02/02/10, and it was coincidental the same topic I started here was on the news. They are saying that the new meters have nothing to do with the increase. They are saying it's the change in the weather and that there are no faulty meters. I beg to differ, and I am willing to be one of those people to file a "Class Action Suit." The only problem is getting enough people to fight the battle. After 8yrs in the same place and seeing worse weather in previous years without having bills as high as my last bill over ($500.00), I refuse to believe my electric provider. They said on the news to contact your electric provider. I've done that, and they tell me it could take up to 16 days to get a reply....which means NEVER to me. I just feel either way..the customer will have to suffer and it's not right.  (Feb 2, 2010 | post #5)

OUTRAGEOUS Electric Bills

I would like to know if there are any others out there who have experienced outrageous electric bills lately? I have lived at the same address for 8yrs.now, and I have never had an electric bill to soar to the heights that I have seen for the past 2 months. I can't accept the excuse that the utility company gives of it being a colder year this year, because a few year ago we had snow and it never reach the cost it has reach this year. I've talked with others who have expressed a concern in their utilities escalating also. I would like to hear from others, am I the only one who is concerned? I've made calls to the electric company, whom recently changed meters, with no avail. As usual, "the company is always right!" HOGWASH!!! I really want to know, am I alone?  (Feb 2, 2010 | post #1)

Killeen ISD seniors who failed the TAKS test now allowed ...

Personally, this TAKS mess is a crock of BULL. How many of you all had the stress of these type tests? Probably NONE of you. So many want to blame the students for their inability to pass this test but, I beg to differ. I personally know first hand that the school system is totally different from what it used to be when most of us went to school. I understand that there is negativity on both sides...school system & the homes. My main concern is the type of teachers who are teaching our children. There are far too many teachers who are there only for a paycheck. We all work for our paychecks but, when we speak of holding students liable for testing such as the TAKS test,(which I feel is so unnecessary), we should also hold teachers responsible for being TRUE teachers. There are far to many teachers who could care less about whether or not a child learns anything. What happen to teachers who we used to know of as nurturing and caring? I am not impressed with parents who interfer with the chastisement of students. I also realize that that plays a big role in our failing system but the odds of poor teaching outway the odds of parent interference. If TAKS was not necessary for many of us in the past, why now? Most of these post I'm reading seem to be all for the encouragement of student failure instead of the students succeeding. Let us not forget, not all kids are on the same levels, nor do they all learn or understand on the same level. Half of what they learn already, they will never use in the real world.I agree that it takes a very special person in these days and ages to be a teacher, and I have said many times that teachers deserve a pay increase, but can someone prove to me WHY the TAKS test is so necessary besides the fact that someone thought it to be a good idea????  (Jan 19, 2010 | post #56)
