Wayne Will says CIA trained him to kill africans.

What a bunch of crapola Williams is spouting. This is right up there with "Bush blew the levys in New Orleans so blacks would drown", and other tripe. Come on...the guy is grasping at straws and leading reporters around by their noses. He knows that as soon as he says "CIA" it perks up everyone's ears and that there will be those who hate the US and hate our intelligence agencies will give credence to such BS.  (Jun 11, 2010 | post #2)

There is a fundamental opposition to energy cultivation in the United States, even in areas where there are existing rights and leases. If we want to be energy independent, these friviloius suits have to stop. By the way - how about dialog and debate without juvenile name-calling?  (Sep 15, 2009 | post #5)

Of course we're in Iraq for oil. I knew that from Day 1. So...why are we in Iraq for oil? Because large special interest groups like the radical enviros have blocked all energy expansion, exploration, and extraction in the United States and off our shores. If you want us out of the Middle East, let loose energy efforts across the spectrum - coal, gas, nuclear, wind, and solar. Drill, dig, and build all methods of energy capture. But, don't sue because some insect in the middle of the desert will have it's habitat disturbed the moment we have to put a shovel into the soil. Do we have a deal?  (Sep 15, 2009 | post #3)

Letters to editor for July 25, 2009

So, Herbert Thomas doesn't like "Mallard Fillmore" because, in his opinion, the strip is "...sour, nasty, and...not funny." Mr. Thomas, thanks for your opinion. However, your bashing and obvious anger at the New Mexican for publishing the strip is disingenuous at best. My bet is that you ascribe to the political party that is well known for embracing diversity, is open to freedom of thought expression from all, and espouses the encouragement of acceptance without prejudice. It seems that you and those of your ilk are fine with those noble ideas...so long as they reflect your own political and social agenda. It seems that your view is quite hypocritical. There is no First Amendment requirement for our comments or letters to the New Mexican either. My bet is that you are really glad about that after reading *my* opinion.  (Jul 27, 2009 | post #1)

Fair cuts prices to raise attendance

OK, so we agree that the fair may not be the best place to go for entertainment on different levels. But, the fact that they want to BOOST attendance (and profits) by CUTTING admission fees seems to be strangely similar to the conservative approach to stimulating the economy - CUT taxes and the economy will IMPROVE. I applaud the fair board for taking this approach...I only wish the Obamabots would learn from it.  (Jul 14, 2009 | post #23)

Deputies make surprise find in Owens' Jeep

Generally, and in most states, a person is no longer considered a child when they reach the age of majority, which in most states is 18. Some are 19, and in one, the age of majority is 21. They were children...and, as I said, that fact makes the whole situation even more sad.  (Jul 8, 2009 | post #46)

Three indicted for Denny's robbery, killing

You're right...but, the federal government has a lousy record carrying out the death penalty. There were two executions in 2001, one in 2003, and none since. Prior to the two in 2001, the last time the federal death penalty was carried out was in 1963, more than 38 years prior. I don't have much confidence that these idiots will be put to death. http://www.bop.gov /about/history/exe cchart.jsp  (Jul 8, 2009 | post #32)

Gee too bad US TAXPAYERS are going to have to foot the bill for these ILLEGAL ALIENS to spend the rest of their lives in prison, since there's NO MORE DEATH PENALTY in NM. That means we get to house, educate, clothe, feed, and provide medical care for them FOR LIFE...and, if any of them want to get SEX CHANGE OPERATIONS, we'll pay for that too! See what happens when out-of-state, do-gooder interlopers influence OUR legislature? If you're mad about this, write or call the ACLU and National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty and tell them how you feel.  (Jul 7, 2009 | post #4)
