What Job Do You Want To Do In Hazlehurst?

Mayor, you have already learned that you can't please everyone no matter what the itinerary. We all learn that the hard way at some point in our lives. You're doing a good job, in my opinion, if that means anything. At least you are OPEN for suggestion instead of shunning every opportunity. Stay focused. Let's get some jobs in here. It could be worse... we could have Barrack Obama for Mayor. :-) Just kidding to you Obama Fans.  (Feb 26, 2010 | post #51)

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining one iota. I, too, will stick with the Mayor on this and would love to see some things unfold here. It sounds good so far so let's open our ears and listen instead of injecting negativity and doubt at every turn. Thanks!  (Feb 26, 2010 | post #48)

What Job Do You Want To Do In Hazlehurst?

Whether or not this instance is of relevance to the discussion... Several years ago, some may remember, Twin Communications, however a small business that would only employ a few, came into town and situated its storefront right on the corner across the street from Lowery's True Value. The business had already opened for business and hung their sign above the door out front and the 'old guard' came in and told them that they could have their business' sign hanging out front but the colors their business used were not suitable for the 'historic district' of Hazlehurst. They were informed they had to re-design their business logo or come up with a new, more suitable, sign to match the historic district. Now, the sign was a red sign with white lettering, if memory serves me, and if I'm not mistaken, the same colors as True Value or at the time, Western Auto. The 'old guard' were basically told to stuff it and two weeks after opening the doors and purchasing phone service, they packed up and closed the doors. I had a conversation with the owner about it and he was quite unhappy and had a few choice words for the 'officials' of the city. I don't blame him personally. I know this is not a BIG BIZ that would have employed hundreds of people, but a business, nonetheless. His argument made sense to me because the same colors were used on a sign less than 100 feet away... ~~mike~~  (Feb 26, 2010 | post #47)

Off Topic: If it is ever desired, I have my own webserver and forums section where discussions can be brought to a more private arena. It can even be password protected if the situation arises.  (Feb 26, 2010 | post #39)

Jamie Lee Curtis: Thank You Barack Obama

I am going to be tickled when all of this comes to an end. You voted for him, I didn't! That will be my response. I cannot WAIT until these fools wake up one morning and remember how they tried to convince themselves that they "thought " it was a good idea at the time. This is going to be the biggest "I told you so" in the history of the world. ....and then you will get out of the bed and return to your job and by the end of the week you'll have more than earned that fraction of a salary that the government gives you as your "allowance ". Wait and see.  (Nov 7, 2008 | post #889)
