sure there is risk in everything we do. the leaders of arkansas are not stupid people, they are doing their home work . correnti and all of these people know the steel market more so than any one else. some people are afraid of progress and do not understand it. some people are afraid of change. change is happening everyday and most of the time its for other generations or other people. when change come your way you better be ready for it cause its gonna come one way or another and there is nothing you can do about it you just have to make sure its all good .  (Mar 12, 2013 | post #29)

there is a couple of brothers from witchita ks that are worth about 40 billions dollars each that will cover most of the cost, the KOCH BROTHERS. I believe those people has done their homework and there is no way they would think of building if the market was not there. unless they are trying to put nucor out of business. i hope big river is built in mississippi county. it will help south mississippi county which does not benefit from nucor being there. say what you want to but i think the politicians/people in osceola and south mississippi county are better at bringing jobs to the area, just look at what they are doing. yeah they lost a few but they are still in it. the people has to be ready to perform these high dollar jobs, black, white, yellow, green, and brown men - be drug free, be ready to be on time, be focus, get your mind ready, be professional. if these high paying jobs come they will change the course of some people lives over night. john correnti is a good boss, he will demand a lot and will let you know it, but he will give opportunities to people who work hard and try and learn the jobs and stick with it during the building and startup of the company, no matter who you are or what color.  (Mar 11, 2013 | post #11)

we are not talking racism, we are talking about a group of americans who happens to be black that gonna be nearly extinct or locked up in about 10 yrs if they keep going in the direction they are going. the govt always put things in place to help people, well this particular group of people needs help, the young black male. no other group is during more harm to society and themselves than the young black male. other races seem to know what life is about for the most part. there is gonna be nuckle heads in very race but this violence amongst blacks needs to be address to try and get these people to understand that this gift of life is precious and in america you can achieve much if you do it honestly and be patience. the proof is there, there are so many hard working people how have worked and enjoyed all the good thing life has to offer. but i know some of you want these guys to keep killing each other and that why you play the racism card  (Mar 6, 2013 | post #54)

this is not a black and white problem, but it is a young black male problem. how long has these young black male been killing one another in blytheville and or anyone else that they can in this country. it just that blytheville is a place we all are familiar with and very concerned about maybe we got family there. but this senseless killing is going on everyday somewhere. there are a lot of black families that has experience what happen to those people in connecticut . the only difference they weren't in one situation. for the last 10 yrs or more these young guys has been slaughtering each other and no one seems to notice, but let one police officer or white guy kill one and al, jessie and every black in the hood want to march, there is nothing wrong for standing up and making sure that police or some white guy kill just for the sake of it, the protest should really be and continue to be non violence or non exsistence! this should be taught in the schools. they need to hear that each and everyday. these guys need the help, they really do, a lot of them are hurt, lost, abandon and hopeless but yet talented want to succeed but do not know how and they are way too young valuable for america to just say forget you n......! now there are some that will always be out there, there is a place for them.  (Mar 5, 2013 | post #50)

to guest out of little rock . i am not making any excuses for anyone but these children are not mature and a lot of them can not think. a lot of bad advice has been pass on to them from generations past and a community that has a history of mistakes that has been deadly and life changing. many young black are taught the so call fast life or street life which only leads to fast death, bad heath fast, fast way to prison, etc in reality that is the slow life. the real fast life is going to work and making a honest living , buying a home if you choose, getting married, raising your children right, taking care of your family or yourself if you are single. these are just some of the things that leads to a good life and should be taught in the schools so some of these kids can at least here an adult on the other side of life about besides that fake lying street life they have been led to believe is fast and a way to get rich. these are not any excuses the young black men in blytheville and other towns and cities are in trouble no body is teaching them much anything about life. they are part of the future of this country. aren't they?  (Mar 5, 2013 | post #44)

well whites situation is better. the opportunity is there for whites. if they choose not to work and better themselves that their choice. the white people i have work with worked hard as well as the blacks so given a opportunity that is warranted and wanted i think anybody whether black green white orange will work hard to succeed. white will give whites in most cases that break aka nucor. white america run the country and pretty much most of the world. let be real blacks are only about 13% of the u.s. population and are still treated as if they are a major threat to something other than themselves. some blacks have overcame a lot but others have not . getting back to the schools i see where hunters education classes are being taught in some schools who does that benefit? why not teach life classes on how to get and keep good credit, house buying, staying drug free, crime the truth about prisons etc. it will help everybody.  (Mar 4, 2013 | post #32)

that a bunch of craft. THEY HAVE ALL OF THOSE TYPE OF TEACHERS THERE ALREADY. it still does matter what color you are just like it matters what gender you are. The color of ones skin does still matter in America. but you can still be successful. all of the policies of hiring is done on racial makeup of this country or a particular area. maybe some courses on life, credit, drugs prisons should become part of the core curiculumn.  (Mar 4, 2013 | post #28)

maybe when they are getting their classes during registration some of the schools administrators can take the time to encouraged to guide. maybe have a counseling session with the student. hey we just using blytheville high as an example because so many young people have lost their lives in blytheville to being killed or going to jail. its no mystery that if the young people do not proper there is no future, be that they are black or white. now we know the young white are gonna do ok. just look at nucor hiring policies. young white guys from all over 20 to 25 yrs old being hired and making anywhere from 65000 to 100000 per year and they get promoted on those jobs changing the course of their family history. make them want to stay in this area. nucor do not hire many if any young black guys. they hire old black guys who may be ex cons or soon to be cons or something else. maybe the young black guys can not pass the entry test , drug test, etc,. maybe they did not take the right classes in high school for those type of jobs. i don't know but for some reason they can't seem to get any high paying jobs in the steel mill industry in the area. other factories hire but the way prices are going up it hard to move up the ladder. come on big river steel mill! maybe they will get an opportunity to succeed or fail. any young black people that want a better future will leave mississippi county.  (Mar 4, 2013 | post #26)

the schools to not raise children and no one is asking that but encouragement is just a few words a day could make a different. we already know how cold and mean people are in society, people get real, these children needs help, especially in towns like blytheville. there is no need to even think its gonna come from the home, it hasn't yet. some one has to do a little more to try and save the children in general and they will grow up no matter what. once the school is over then what. anyone that has went to public schools know what goes on in them. they have seen the difference that being made in schools as well as society. the schools are not suppose to raise children but they can do better than what they are doing now.  (Mar 4, 2013 | post #23)

no not blaming the school alone but its part of it. anyone who commits a crime should be held responsible even if they are crazy. if an adult does not help or encouraged a child or simply put something there to help them, that child is not going to feel like anyone cares. now that can be a parent or any adult in a authority who makes that choice. society help turns innocent children into into hard people and schools are part of society just like the streets are. it seems like everyone is happy when one out of one hundred make it. what about the others? i guess somebody got to do the business of crime. crime is a business that why prisons are being privatized. and who is gonna fill those prisons so the government can pay the owners. maybe if that is taught in blytheville schools that might help. good luck  (Mar 3, 2013 | post #17)

whenever anyone spend a lot of time around something or some one there should be some influence be it bad or good. now if these children go to school 8 hours a day 5 days a week and nearly 9 months a year there is going to be a impression of either they are being taught something or they aren't. the effort is just not there from the administration. this has been going on for years the school has a hand in this with these young black males. if they aren't athletes they are pretty much ignored unless they are gay.  (Mar 3, 2013 | post #14)
