Community Heart & Stroke Health Fair

Heart disease and stroke are the nation’s leading causes of death and severe disability. Are you at risk? The American Heart Association reports that coronary heart disease is the nation’s single leading cause of death, and projects that approximately 1.2 million Americans will have a first or recurrent coronary attack this year. The National Stroke Association reports that more than 750,000 strokes occur each year in the United States. Increased complications and brain damage occur because many victims don’t recognize stroke symptoms, and wait too long to seek medical assistance. Early detection and treatment of both heart and stroke conditions can greatly increase the chances of recovery. Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and the Memorial Hermann Wellness Center invite you to “Know Your Risk,” a FREE health fair designed to educate the community about heart and stroke risk factors and to provide screenings for those at risk Saturday, May 1, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Memorial Hermann Wellness Center 7731 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77074  (Apr 20, 2010 | post #1)
