They could turn most of downtown Wendell into a place for Townhouses, Or at least a good paint job, But fix the road conditions should be the top priority. A lot of people trying to make left turns during rush hour traffic backing up past the Food Lion shopping center. Why wait through all that traffic coming in and out of Wendell? How about a no left turn sign on both sides of the road on Wendell BLVD in front of the Wendell GT Magnet Elementary School during the morning and afternoon rush hour traffic. How about a stop light signage in front of Food Lion. How about LESS political signs during election time. How about a sign that says the Wendell Falls exit connects to Wendell or at least to Poole Rd. And finally, I sign in front of Mr. G's store saying that he buys a majority of his store items at Food Lion and Walmart and resales them at a higher price. (Apr 16, 2012 | post #1)
This is also the time of year when refineries change the formula of the gas for the summer time heat. Much like in the autumn when the formula is changed to keep the gas from freezing in the winter. They have to stop production, clean out the system and start everything back up again using the new formula. This has been going on for decades. Would someone please tell the media this so they will stop with the doom and gloom. (Apr 9, 2012 | post #1)
Wake County is a century or two from really needing a rail system. Yes it will create many jobs to build and maintain for maybe 10 people per train car to use. I stayed in the San Francisco area and used their rail system called BART. Many workers on strike, wanting to make more than 40 thousand a year, high ticket prices that would have paid for the gas to actually drive there and the nonexistent business boost that Wake County was told that would be created by the rail system. Light rail is useful but mainly as a backup plan if one's car is in the shop and you can handle the extra time that it will take you to get to your destination. Provided the rail system is going where you need it to go. (Apr 9, 2012 | post #1)
It reminds me of when guns were banned in Australia. Homicide went up 3.2%, assaults up to 8.6%, armed robbery up to 44% and homicides in one area went up 300%. (Feb 23, 2012 | post #6)
He's not representing North Carolina like John Edwards who is involved in six felony charges of violating multiple federal campaign contribution laws to cover up an extramarital affair. Burr is a bit boring marching along party lines but compared to Edwards he's appears safe. But I do believe in term limits so a fresh face would be nice. (Feb 23, 2012 | post #6262)
Another big improvement that needs to be done is on the 440 HWY between Wade Ave. and HWY 40. That includes the Western BLVD, Hillsborough St and Jones Franklin Rd exits. Its a nightmare on the Western BLVD ramps with cars getting on the HWY on the left while cars on the right exit off. (Feb 23, 2012 | post #3)
The show is fake. I live a few miles from the place and many people around there are sharing stories of being offered to act out scenes or have witness them acting out those scenes for the show. Also it's a used car lot to where the cars break down usually a week or two after you buy them. The place is located at the corner of HWY 97 and Lizard Lick Road. The official name of the place is called Wendell Auto Brokers with a towing service called Lizard Lick Towing & Recovery, LLC. Located just outside Wendell, NC and 20 miles from Raleigh, NC. That toilet bowl Mr. John Sprink is my home. I take it that you are not originally from North Carolina and that you prefer the type of people that closely resembles your viewpoint on Southern people. I've been to Wake Forest many times over the years and have watched it grow from a small town to the city it is today. As my family has been in this area since the early 1620's, I still welcome you to this state. Unlike your former location, our bathrooms down here are very clean (Jan 5, 2012 | post #3)
The History Channel program called How The Earth Was Made pilot episode explained clearly the this so called global warming has been going on for millions of years before mankind appeared. And that its caused by planetary changes and not by what comes out of a tail pipe of a car. A volcano puts out more types of dangerous fumes in one hour than all of mankind in a year. And there are still many active volcanoes on land and under water. http://volcanoes.u sgs.gov/hazards/ga s/index.php Plus the sun goes through cycles of heating and cooling and right now all the scientist who monitor the sun states that the sun is continually getting warmer. Majority of people who exit of HWY 64 are heading towards 231 HWY. From there they can enter Johnston County and head towards Archer Lodge or the Corinth Holder area. Wendell Falls has become a sick joke where as when the road finally connects to Poole Road would still require drivers to drive through town using 3rd Street to connect to Hwy 231 or take the long way around using Eagle Rock Rd that eventually turns into Rolesville Rd. What Wendell needs is a bypass road that will connect Wendell Falls exit to HWY 231 just inside the Johnston County line. The new road would need turning lanes with as little stop signs as possible. Similar to how HWY 42 is set up from Clayton to Wilson. With plenty of room for future expansion. Stick a gas station and a few shops just inside Wendell City limits on this new road and watch the tax money pour in as the traffic flow through Wendell trickles down. (Jan 4, 2012 | post #1)
Drunk or not, since they changed the road pattern has made it a bit tricky at times. Plus a drive through gas station would be perfect not only for those too drunk to shop but to remind people what customer service use to be like. And if you can only find it at a gas station then so be it. (Dec 28, 2011 | post #1)
It's great that I can take the Wendell Falls exit and actually travel to Wendell. BUT, it's still a major problem of what they did to Poole Road. Taking a straight line and putting in a sharp curve with a stop sign in it. When the shopping center start showing up as well as a gas station then Wendell can truly start growing into a city.
