Gay Marriage - Schenectady, NY

I cannot support Gay Marriage. I CAN support Civil Unions for ALL couples witnessed by civil employees. Get the church out of the business of making lawfully recognized couples. If a couple wants to have a religious marriage ceremony which has NO legal recognition that's up to them and their clergy.  (Jul 29, 2010 | post #3)

Price Chopper Opening Five

PC can charge whatever they want to in small towns because there is NO competition in small towns unless you feel like driving 1 hour to get to a decent size city. Not all PC are clean, either. PC meat is MORE expensive than any other store in my area because they have to pay for their gas program and people still believe they feel like they're getting a great deal. PC store #1 smells almost as bad as my kitty litter box....  (Jul 12, 2010 | post #19)

Thumbs down: Erie school superintendent hiring process cl...

ANYONE would be better than Eric Ely as your next school superintendent! Ely has problems with district staff, news media, the NY State Ed dept and the residents of Schenectady. Google Steven Raucci and see how many of the article mention Eric Ely. I live in Schenectady and have family in Erie. I do not wish my problems on you - you have enough without adding him!  (Feb 14, 2010 | post #17)

Suspended officer in trouble again

I've dealt some good, honest caring police in Schenectady. It's unfortunate that the bad ones that manage to get in the news A LOT.  (Jan 25, 2010 | post #12)

rome died with the base

I grew up in Rome when the Base was still there and Revere was providing a lot of jobs. I go back to visit friends and family every few months. I watched the city go downhill when the base left and Revere started cutting jobs. The past couple of years the city seems to be coming back. I had a few hours alone to kill this past Oct and was in a mood to go down memory lane. I drove for several hours around the city and saw signs of businesses coming back, the base isn't a ghost town, there seem to be fewer "for sale" signs on houses and people seem to care about their homes. It's not the same city it was, but, it looks like it may be well on its way to becoming just as good, but, with different businesses. I hope the city and the people in it succeed!  (Jan 15, 2010 | post #24)

Gay Marriage

Everyone should have the right to obtain a Civil Union. Take marriage out of the legal system. If a couple wants to be married, have them do it thru their religion. Marriages won't be recognized by the government and religions don't have to recognize Civil Unions.  (Jan 6, 2010 | post #31)

Stop the Lie, There is no GOD!

Guess you've got a LONG road ahead of you since "God" is on all US currency, in courts etc.... If God is so bad, why don't you move to a godless country like Russia where you might be happier - and you would be silenced!  (Jan 6, 2010 | post #3)

Health Care - Schenectady, NY

I don't believe it's Constitutional to: 1 - Mandate health insurance for all citizens and 2 - have in the bill that it can NOT be changed by later sessions of Congress.  (Jan 6, 2010 | post #35)

Health Care - Schenectady, NY

I do NOT believe the Constitution allows Congress to MANDATE health insurance coverage for all citizens. And I don't believe it's constitutional to have a provision in the bill that says it can't be changed by later Congresses.  (Jan 6, 2010 | post #34)

Daily Gazette ends free Web site access

Comments on the Gazetto website since they started charging for access are practically nil. They sure aren't Schenectady's hometown newspaper. The pix on Jan 1 issue was of First Night SARATOGA. Not even 1 pix of the fireworks in downtown SCHENECTADY NY Eve.  (Jan 6, 2010 | post #9)
