NASCAR

USA Today got it right

Earnhardt fans have long considered Gordon, a four-time Cup champion, as an arch rival. that is perfect, i do not understand why it is gordon vs. earnhardt, jr. i hate gordon and like earnhardt, but really they are not on the same level. i mean really why would gordon consider junior a rival. it is all in their heads. i think it is fine to not like gordon, but to dream up this rivalry is ridiculous. level a stewart gordon kenseth johnson level b busch busch earnhardt, jr harvick martin (just because he is part time) edwards level c everyone else hopefully busch and earnhardt do change rides before the end of the year because i really think the adjustment period will take them both out of the chase...and put jamie right in  (Jun 13, 2007 | post #1)

Busch Wackers

no you're not wrong. and i don't think people are mad if they race a handful of races a year as those guys did when they winning. martin won some of those wins as a busch only regular. but what people are mad about is that they are running both schedules full time and they are winning championships. but see i don't even know why they have the busch series anymore because young guys get a shot in cup so early anymore. the busch is just made up of a few guys looking to prove themselves, cup regulars who still need some work at some tracks, and journeymen who have been up and down through all three of the top series.  (Jun 8, 2007 | post #2)

Truex win a fraud

look i like dale jr., but i don't think you understand why he is such a prized free agent. you said it but i am not sure you get it. it is for sure to sell t-shirts and whatever product he is pushing. it is his popularity that makes him so desirable for an owner. that being said i don't think he sucks, he may win multiple championships one day. but if he was not such a fan favorite this "bidding war" would not be going on right now. and to the others if you disagree with me i am sorry but you are wrong. think about other guys who are his age and how much of a story it would be if they left their team. kenseth - 1 championship stewart - 2 championship busch - 1 championship johnson - 1 championship all those guy besides busch have more championships and races than junior and they would not command what he is in the open market and their search for a seat would not get as much attention, so that right there tells you that it is mostly about commericals, die-cast, hats, t-shirts and making money off his daddy's fans.  (Jun 8, 2007 | post #2)

you know what aren't we fighting a war? isn't always said they are fighting for our freedom. and that freedom is ours to do with what we want. we are free to watch a sport that wastes fuel (which by the way is provided to them at no charge.  (Jun 7, 2007 | post #68)

well yeah there are teams that don't pack their venues, but just imagine what the attendance would be at a race if it primarily made up tony raines and joe nemechek fans....  (Jun 6, 2007 | post #45)

SO true! let em label us what they want, it doesnt bother me! I know what I am! and I like to point out that for everyrace nascar they hold, we have more people attending one event then any other sport out there, super bowl included! dude i love nascar but that statement is not very educated. because every team=car in the league=series is at every game=race. so if you take the attendance from every game in a league on a given day it is going to be more than what is at race. and anyway of course more people are going to be at a race way more places to sit. millions of people would attend the super bowl if there was a venue big enough for it.  (Jun 5, 2007 | post #24)

Within 30 minutes, Fox had put together a minute-long tribute to France. That's solid work on the fly. i am sure they had that ready for some time  (Jun 5, 2007 | post #9)
