So happy to see that my fan club missed me this morning. But I have other things to do then hang around the 'puter all day. So, I hope you all have a great afternoon;-) It's really nice outside, you might try geting some fresh air and clearing your mind just a bit!  (Nov 20, 2008 | post #308)

I'm taking nothing more then a wild guess. That based on all the postings here talking about the commission supporting Virden. The commission has the legal authority to appoint the sheriff if the elected sheriff does not fill the office. Do you think they would appoint Sederwall?  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #261)

Your pretty funny, but I would keep the day job, not sure there are any openings for comedians in Lincoln County. One thing you need to keep in mind. Virden won the election with over 70% of the vote. By all indications he will take office in January. Even if he, for what ever reason, does not take office Sederwall will still not be Sheriff. I have to ask, has Sederwall faded into the sunset like his web site did? http://www.sheriff steve.com/  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #254)

Virden resigns days before election - Ruidoso News

Sounds like someone is writing a book LOL I'm not going to get into my personal life with you or anyone else. So, in a nutshell. I resigned, I have the letter. I also have my final evaluation and the quote from the 25+ year veteran commander that wrote it. "The best evaluation I have ever given" Am I proud of my career? You bet. Probably some of the best years of my life until I became a father and that took front seat to everything! It gave me the most important thing in my life when I quit, and that was time with my family. Something I seldom had as a police officer! I went to work as the manager of a loss prevention department because they offered me a good pay check for the job, (better then I ever made as a police officer) as well as very good benefits. I was also allowed to work the hours I wanted to work, not a set schedule. So again it gave me time with my family. Two weeks after taking the managers position I was offered even more money to take the job of Chief of Police of a town in all places, Lincoln County. That and 2 other jobs as agency heads I have been offered over the years were jobs that I did not apply for. They sought me out! I did not then and do not now have any desire to be a police officer again. As I have stated before, numerous times in fact. I know Virden, I know who he has worked for, I associate with people who have worked for and with him in various departments so I know the kind of officer, commander he was. Kind of like if one of your friends ran for public office. Would you dig into their background or would you look into the back ground of his/her opponent? I'm not sure what the county manager has to do with the Virden/Sederwall issue. I don't know the county manager so I won't even comment on it! So, now a question or two for you. How come Sederwall is no longer a police officer? How come does not release the names of the departments he worked for in NM? Why is he not eligible for rehire with the BLM?  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #253)

If you recall I stated that Virden had been investigated and cleared. No inside track at all. A post or two later I posted the link to the news article that I had quoted. Not hard to find out such information. As to who the commission would appoint. My first and only guess would be Virden. I doubt very seriously they would go against the voters and appoint Sederwall. But then again they could possibly leave the current undersheriff if that position for the next 4 years. The post on the Alamo site was after I had posted here and then had done some looking into the facts. That post pointing out Sederwalls problems was in response to someone starting a thread about you all over here slamming Virden!  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #248)

Never posted under the name "newcommer " sorry. I have been extremely polite on the Virden?Sederwall issue. Only when the in-bred half wits get out of line have I been otherwise. About the only person on Topix that I have really gotten into it with is over on the Alamo board with QoF And we go round and round on a variety of topics. The big difference is most of the time she backs her claims up with proof. Something you see very little of here. Sometimes she wins, sometimes I win. While I don't always agree with her I do have some reqpect for her and her husband both!  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #244)

And your another one that seems to have a fixation on me LOL. Looks like I'm getting my own fan club going. I have said from the start that I knew Virden and have been friends with his family for years. I never tried to hide that fact. I said at the start that I had no problem with Sederwall either, that was until I started to learn some facts about him. Kind of like the Presidential election. I had no real issues with Mccain or Obama at the start, they both started off with a clean plate. After a month or so I became VERY pro Mccain and anti Obama. I said from the start that I did not need to question Virden because I knew him. To date all I have seen from the Sederwall supporters are rumors about what Virden has done. You seem to rush right over the obvious faults that Mr Sederwall has shown. I don't agree with Maddox and her decision to apply the rules differently to two different candidates. And just an FYI, her husband is a long time friend though I have not had the chance to visit with him since he left RPD. If the court should rule that Virden should not have been on the ballot because of the nominating petition issue, then thats fine. But then they also have to rule that Sederwall should not have been on the ballot because he did not have the signatures before the deadline either. That's fine also. So, where does that leave the voters? Either with a new election. I'm not sure that there is a provision in NM law for that. Or, leave it as the law says and the county commission selects the new sheriff. Any idea who that might be?  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #243)

Go back and read what I posted. If the court were to rule that Virden should not have been on the ballot then they would also have to rule that Sederwall should not have been on the ballot either. Remember, Sederwall did not have the nominating petitions with the full number of voters until AFTER the deadline. Just curious about something here. I've kept the majority of my comments polite. You seem to have some sort of fixation on me and can't seem to keep anything polite. Why is that?  (Nov 19, 2008 | post #240)

Nope, haven't been posting under any other name. Haven't been posting at all for that matter. Maybe one comment on the KOB site, not sure. Between the flu/cold and an internet problem I have not had much interest in Topix or any other subject on the net. Now back to the subject at hand. Sorry you all did not get the answers that you wanted from the commission. I think I posted before that the commission was where the answers needed to come from. Just a little food for thought on Mr Sederwall. If Virden should decide to not be sworn in, in January that still does not make Sederwall the Sheriff. If Virden should be removed for some alleged wrong doing, that also would not make Sederwall Sheriff. If by some off the wall chance the court were to rule that Virden should not have been on the ballot (I don't think that is going to happen or they would have made that ruling when they put Sederwall on it) with out the signatures that still would not make Sederwall the Sheriff. Now, if my memory serves me correctly the sequence of events was that on the day they were required to present the nominating petitions Sederwall ran out and got some signatures but not enough So, he filed a suit. Correct? If that was the case and the court were to make a ruling against Virden for not having the signatures then that ruling would also have to apply to Sederwall as he did not have enough signatures until after the deadline. So, if by some remote chance the court should step in and say they were both in violation and rule them both as not valid candidates. Guess what? The commission, by law, then appoints a sheriff to fill the 4 year term. Now, I'm not a commissioner and I don't think that I know any of the commission but I'll bet a dime to a dollar that, that still won't make Sederwall the Sheriff. Another point that I was not sure on. There has been several people mention that if Virden was being investigated he "by law" had to be on administrative leave. I have searched the New Mexico law and can find nothing that requires that. In the case of most county and municipal departments (law enforcement and other wise) that is up to the department head and/or the governing body. Sorry for the typos and grammer errors, flu medicine messes me up.  (Nov 18, 2008 | post #235)

How do you come to the conclusion that a recovery effort that is paid for by an insurance company is "tax payer" money? And yes, I know that fact is not in this particular article. But all it takes is a little searching to find out who is paying for it!  (Nov 9, 2008 | post #5)

Virden victorious - Ruidoso News

Well let me see if I can respond to all that has been posted since I've been gone for the evening. Yup, good eye. My avitar is winking. No real meaning behind it at all. Nope, not an "amatuer sleuth" No, you didn't just get e-mailed a picture of me beside Sam Hammond. Who by the way I don't know! Nope I'm not the "Don of the Alamo mafia" Let's see here, what am I missing. I have not spoken to Rick Virden in some time. I do see and speak to various members of his family on an irregular basis, nope I'm not a "small town investigator" , or even a big town investigator for that matter, it does not really matter if you like Scott Key or not. He has the final say on what is prosecuted in Otero and Lincoln County. I think that about covers it. Like myself and some other folks here have said. You people need to find some productive way of using your energy, your just spinning your wheels on this issue!  (Nov 8, 2008 | post #164)
