Facebook article commenting: How-to and questions

Dislike! Please keep Facebook separate from your commenting system. It's a matter of privacy for some, and for others, not wanting to have a Facebook account at all. Searching the forum is no substitute for the comment form on an article. Mark down one more reader that is getting tired of this experiment already, and may read and comment elsewhere if it continues, much as I love the Pioneer Press.  (May 12, 2011 | post #60)

Minnesota immigrant rights group: Move All-Star game

Rididulous! We (legal citizens) show birth certificates, licenses and SSN cards in order to do many basic things. Like go to school or get a job. Voting should be protected *at least* as well as working or going to school.  (Oct 29, 2010 | post #69)

Marijuana - Redwood Falls, MN

It's likely less harmful than alcohol, and yes, it does have medicinal uses. Even barring those two things, adults should be free to make any and all decisions regarding their own bodies.  (Oct 28, 2010 | post #3)

Minnesota immigrant rights group: Move All-Star game

These Minnesota protesters ought to mind their own backyard, where illegal aliens are also taking much-needed jobs, stealing services and identities, and committing additional crimes. May AZ be successful in cleaning house, and may other states follow suit!  (Oct 28, 2010 | post #67)

Brazilian judge: McDonald's must pay employee $17.5K for ...

Ew. Why would you put that in your mouth? McDonald's doesn't serve "food." A grown man ought to know this, and take responsibility for his own actions. No one forced him to eat there. Just what society needs, McDonald's to make our food choices. *sigh*  (Oct 28, 2010 | post #8)

Who do you support for Governor in Minnesota in 2010?

No, letting the wealthy keep the money they earn above the amount they pay for "their portion" of services is *not* subsidising them. And I'm sure they would be very happy to pay the same *percentage* of taxes as you and I. For instance, a flat tax would be much more fair. Notice how on income taxes, the higher the income, the higher percentage? Looks like they're paying more for this "gallon of milk" than the middle class.  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #226)

Orreljw, do you think it would be right for you to have to pay more for a gallon of milk than the guy in the line next to you, simply because he earns less than you? Should the store manager take a few dollars out of your wallet and give them to the less well-off guy, making this decision for you? If so, what's your incentive to be successful? And what is the other guy's incentive?  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #224)

Get a clue! Democrats seems to always want the successful to pay the tab for those who aren't. Not over-taxing someone is not the same as giving them something. It's merely keeping your mitts out of their wallet. You aren't giving someone something by allowing them to keep what they have earned, no matter how badly you may wish for what they have. "Pay your share?" Don't you mean "Pay your share and mine?"  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #222)

Absolutely! It would be refreshing. As I stated before, I'll wait patiently for you to back up your rhetoric. Then we'll discuss the valid points.  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #213)

I see you have a large number of posts by your name. Are all of them as insulting and uninformative as the flood on this topic? You should educate yourself before you speak.  (Oct 19, 2010 | post #209)

Please back up the rhetoric you are selling. I'll wait patiently.  (Oct 18, 2010 | post #183)

Orreljw, I'd be happy for my tax dollars to go towards paying teachers fairly. But only those teachers who are amply qualified to teach in the first place, and based on their ongoing performance. As it is now, the union is a stumbling block on the path towards a decent education, we don't demand that our school districts be financially responsible, and students aren't receiving the best education possible. Btw, MN schools could learn something (no pun intended) from a few in the south. Namely, Virginia (Lynchburg), where education is put before anything. Aaand... have you got something to contribute other than "flawplenty? "  (Oct 18, 2010 | post #178)

And now we need to have representatives who will stand for us, against the potentially fraudulently installed Socialist, Obama. And Co.  (Oct 17, 2010 | post #160)
