Here we will attempt to concentrate on all the positive aspects of the extraordinary Elvis Presley story.
"Why Elvis is Still Important"
Elvis Presley is still important because of his remarkable voice and the ability to interpret songs so beautifully. At his best Elvis was incomparable. That is why we are here. Young people discovering Elvis's best work are sure to explore further. Today my youngest grandchildren are ten. Twins Rebecca and Rachel have been dancing to Elvis's music since they were toddlers. Both of them are musicians and are learning the importance of Elvis and Beethoven, and company. They at ten already know Elvis is still very important today. They of course introduce his music to their 'sophisticated' friends. :-) (1 hr ago | post #18)

Not so. We cannot live on E alone. I need B for his excellent orchestral music. And T. We Irish love our T. If you are just here to criticise those that actually do stuff to keep E topical , get in the Q. http://irelandtoo. blogspot.com For I. :-)) (4 hrs ago | post #10)
A lot of misrepresentation there. If only life was so simple! Vernon may have not been enthusiastic about working for peanuts, but he did indeed work. In the Mississippi heat! His short stay in prison was an unfortunate chapter. not repeated! The abbreviation of peoples lives in books is very unreliable evidence of the reality. (17 hrs ago | post #115)
For Maurice, on the byke matter
Now now Jim, Would we do such a thing as make fun of an Editor? LOL. Ol' McDonald may lose the farm! I have already posted the topic on another Elvis message board with a nod to your good self of course. How the Elvis "Scholars " elsewhere missed this is quite amusing. But they know now! Hi Jim, you devil! :-) My email has gone to. Sir. Short and to the point. We shall see what transpires? well.......maybe :-) The New York Times makes quite a target. I once received a letter from an editor of the TNYT concerning an Elvis story. I seem to remember her name as Rosenbaum. back in 1997. Before my computer age. Thanks for those youtube directions I enjoyed comparing the songs. This thread has become quite a source of fascinating info thanks to your exhaustive research. (19 hrs ago | post #37)

Jim, I see what you mean. Cliff Richard is definitely on record as saying if there had not been an Elvis there would have been no Cliff Richard. The others I mentioned are obviously influenced by Elvis but I do not have their quotes about WHY they became entertainers in the first place, although they obviously lean to Elvis's HAIR style, MODE of singing and stage mannerisms......al beit in a much exaggerated fashion :-) Elvis certainly cast a great many shadows! You would be surprised. ;-) Elvis related anecdotes keep the message boards humming! Even rude people in Texas read them. Please give my regards to my nephew in Dallas. http://irelandtoo. blogspot.com (Thursday | post #3)

Jim the singers I mentioned probably were converted 1957. Terry Dene may be a 1956 convert? They all had careers often covering Elvis songs, or attempting his style. Katia, We enjoy your accent. We all make mistakes when posting. Don't worry. Say hello to Gina Lollobridgida for me, she is beautiful . From 1956 I have been smitten! :-) (Wednesday May 14 | post #24)
