I'm seeing "liberal " "conservative " "Left wing" "right wing" "socialist " on an on, etc. etc. I think that one of the major problems we have as a people is having to classify ourselves. It's absolutely useless!!!! Catholic, Christian, Mormon, Muslim, Jewish, etc. That's why politics is always so heated. I'm a "blank" and you're a "blank" so you're obviously wrong. LOL Wake up people!!! I absolutely refuse to label myself anything. I have my own mind, and viewpoints. Some "left" some "right". So what? My options are to not vote, and be labled un-patriotic, or to vote for the person I think will do the least damage in 4 years. When did this happen? (Aug 18, 2009 | post #1017)
After pearl harbor and 9/11 the country came together against a united enemy. I was half way through basic training on 9/11. If I knew then what I know now I damn sure wouldn't have joined. I was a patriot all the way. Growing up I wanted nothing but to be a soldier. To serve my country. I'm ashamed of what America is slowly becoming. If the Government can turn someone like me against them they shouldn't be around for too much longer as they are operating now. (Aug 18, 2009 | post #997)
I hadn't considered that. It's an undeniably good point. Thanks (Aug 18, 2009 | post #970)
That's all fine and good, and I don't disagree. What would you propose to replace money though? The population is much too large for a barter system to work. (Aug 18, 2009 | post #967)
That's a fair point. The country's infrastructure is failing badly. It's another thing that gets less media attention than Michael Jackson. LOL (Aug 18, 2009 | post #965)
I agree. The post office, fire departments, police departments, libraries, etc. are all government run institutions of one form or another, and who would want to live without them? What's so scary about healthcare? I guess I just don't understand. The media will go on and on about anything they can to keep people distracted from the real issues like MASSIVE government corruption. Keep the people distracted and pacified. LOL (Aug 18, 2009 | post #956)
I talked with quite a few European soldiers in my time over there. I'm sure not all of them came back. They were good men and women. Not all americans think like that jerk-off freebird forever. I agreed with some of their statements earlier, but the one to you was uncalled for. (Aug 18, 2009 | post #953)
Congrats ladies (Aug 18, 2009 | post #10)
That's true, but the technology gap has never been this big before. I'm not saying that the war would be impossible to win, I just hope I'm not alive to see it. (Aug 18, 2009 | post #938)
I trained National Guard troops that were activated before the war. I take nothing away from the men and women in the guard or reserves, and I don't say this out of ego. They are ABSOLUTELY no match for active military regulars. I ran into the only infantry Guard unit I saw in Iraq in camp Doha waiting for a plain home. They were shellshocked pretty bad. They had been ambushed and weren't trained how to respond. Their unit was almost wiped out. I feel sorry for the kids, and can remember their faces. It haunts me to this day. The Guard and Reserves are an illusion of indepence and protection from the government in my opinion. I hope very much that I'm wrong. (Aug 18, 2009 | post #924)
Sweet Christ! I'm no racist. Some of the best men I served with in the military were black, but come on. Native Americans had it much worse than blacks and they don't CONSTANTLY whine about it. Since the beginning, a stronger people (technologically) dominate a weaker people. Besides the fact that MOST blacks were purchased legally from rival tribes or from their own. Not always, granted, but still. Millions of jews were wiped out during the holocaust and now as a people they're thriving. How long can a group of people use a past wrongdoing for an excuse to fail? The fact is black youth has no real direction except for "bling" and "big booty hoes". It's a shame that so many talented people have no real direction. (Aug 18, 2009 | post #1)
