Our recommendation: Springboro voters should say 'yes' th...

ALL of my class portraits from 3rd grade thru graduation show AT LEAST..... 30 kids! The time frame for this... was early 70's through early 80's. Q:What will make the ultimate difference between the kids that will "make it", and the kids that "won't"? A:THE PARENTS!!! Think about it. Things haven't changed all that much in the last two generations or so. And in another generation...it'll be much the same as it is today. Stop blaming class size! Education of the children starts and ends at home!  (Feb 7, 2009 | post #2747)

Yeah...here too. The 1st post was Springboro, since then it's been Lima! The district keeps saying they're going to lay off all non-essential personnel. I guess that means everyone but nurses, janitors & a select few teachers for the (ahem...) "gifted" . In our own corner, we've had some struggles of our own in the MATH department during the last few years. The way we're trying to overcome their math anxieties is to work side-by-side with both of them here at home in the evenings, but in the end, prompt THEM to come up with the solutions to the problems ( vs "giving them" the answers, and then showing them how you got there). I don't have all of the answers to everything, but when it comes to reading... It's rare to see a normally-developed kid at a very young age who'd been read to nightly by his parents, and/or ( somewhat later) who'd been taught by his parents to read nursery rhymes (etc)... have problems developing sufficient reading skills in their later school years.  (Feb 7, 2009 | post #2743)

Ask Iams to End Cruel Experiments on Animals

Yeah.... We should stop all lab experiments, and instead start doing them only on... POINTERS! (;  (Feb 6, 2009 | post #24)

"Amish" heaters and EdenPURE heaters--Watch OUT!

You obviously haven't had an Eden Pure for very long, hoss! Hell, I'll bet you haven't had one AT ALL! And it certainly isn't fair for you to "lump" the reputable and proven copper-coil Eden Pure technology into the same abusive diatribe of ONE overgrown paragraph......... ......combined.... ....... with the oft-advertised Amish Heat Surge Heaters, which any imbisol can tell is obviously a total scam & a rip-off sceme! DOH!~~~~ "FREE" Heaters!!! ~~~~DOH! The red flag should have gone up right then & there, skippy!!! I'll bet you never even TRIED,even SEEN or FELT THE HEAT come out of an Eden Pure , big hoss! You're no doubt just generalizing about ANYTHING else you see advertised and "pricey" , because you're too C-H-E-A-P to go anywhere but "chinky-chink y Wal-Mart" to get your p.o.s. junk that'll last 1 1/2 years, then fall to pieces!! We've had 2 Eden Pures ( one 750 watts, one 1500 watts) for going on three full winters now, and they're everything we expected them to be.... and more. Even with a somewhat more-efficient and newer Bryant heat pump system, using the 2 Eden Pures during (extreme) cold days & nights has helped to cut the electric bill dramatically, allowing us to often turn the emergency electric blower heat off altogether! I only wish we had the newer Eden Pure models out these days ...with the remote-control temperature controls! (Oh, well!) (;  (Feb 6, 2009 | post #8)

Probably the only driving-age kids that know about that southern-most segment of Red Lion 5 Points Rd, west of the old Springboro Nursery, are the ones that live in Heatherwoode. I'm sure the rest of 'em use 741, do an end-run at Richard's Run, or try to cut through the neighborhoods behind J Wright. But I'll bet more of 'em would probably be interested in trying the Red Lion "fish hook" approach from the south to the high school, if they were to take the time to pick up a Springboro street map and figure out how to navigate it!
