I heard an opening date today but I'm not telling till I get my burger. I expect they will be swamped again. (Thursday Jun 13 | post #403)
Ok, sorry I was so confrontational. All I have in this is the few burgers I've bought and seeing someone doing the best they can with what they have and doing it well. I originally thought the whole food truck was an iffy idea here but they proved the idea was a good one. (Thursday Jun 13 | post #402)
I think that was already discussed somewhere earlier. There are several owners beyond Corbin and they have all worked on the truck. I'm not certain but I think owners aren't included in that number requiring workman's comp because they aren't employees. If payment for the treatment is your question , payment was made by the company. The bill was paid. The fact the injured employee is still employed, treated for the injury and the treatment has been paid for and apparently the employee is happy with how it was handled should settle the whole question. Now go to your closet and look at the labels on your clothes and ask yourself when you bought that garment made in who knows where, were you supporting a company that took as good a care of their employees as Corbin has ? Seems to me the account has been told by many and details lost and confused in the telling and I can understand that. I don't really think those details matter in the overall view but they are examples of conflicting information. I think this is just a good example of why we cant use the words of the bible in a strict literal way. Examples are there and intent can be understood. (Thursday Jun 13 | post #49)
I understand that was not your reply but the bible isn't a piece of music and we still have the three questions unanswered as to who is supposed to be understanding the Bible if not us. I did try to post a reply to you but evidently it was lost somehow. I'll try to remember and restate as best I can. I'm very happy we have a common foundation in that we can agree the Bible was written and influenced by many men, That it cannot be taken literally word for word and the earth isn't just a few thousand years old. I am just as relieved we don't have to have the Noah and the ark argument that is just exhausting. And how trying to explain parable or metaphor to some is like explaining human reproduction to those who subscribe to the stork myth. For another example of conflicting scripture lets look at Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Here we find several differing accounts of the resurrection. In Matthew 28: we have Mary Magdalane and the "Other Mary" and one Angel sitting on the rock that covered the tomb. In Mark 16: we have Mary Magdalane, Mary (Mother of James), and Salome and a young man sitting Inside the tomb. In Luke 24:We just have the women who were not named. Two men who suddenly appear beside them, inside the tomb. And the men speak to them while they are in the tomb. In John 20: we have Mary Magdalene being the only one mentioned. All pronouns are singular. Mary leaves the tomb to get two disciples. And there were two Angels sitting inside the tomb talking to her. So we have some confusion of who was there?, who were angels? How many angels, How many spoke and where were the angels when they spoke? Thats all pretty conflicting to me but maybe there is an explanation I'm not aware of. (Thursday Jun 13 | post #48)
I don't want to be rude but it seems you have painted yourself into a corner if your explanation is we as humans aren't able to understand the Bible. First if we aren't able to understand the bible why are you even reading it ? Second, who else could it have been written for ? And third, why wouldn't God give us a bible we could understand ? The obvious answer is we are clearly dealing with the writings of at least 2 different men (probably more through copying and editing). Why would a single author explain the same thing twice? No author puts cliff notes on the front of a literary work. This is clearly two accounts of the same event. (Thursday Jun 13 | post #46)
Let me make it clear though there is huge value in the bible. It is filled with many important lessons but we cannot take every word of it literally. It was written by many men from the accounts of many men and translated by many men. At every interface there was the possibility of deviation. (Wednesday Jun 12 | post #42)
Ok lets begin with Genesis. In Genesis 1:27 it reads " So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Here it says man and woman were created at the same time. Now look at Genesis 2:7 we read "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" Then after a bunch of other creating and naming of animals we read "21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof. 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, 1 because she was taken out of Man. " Here are two entirely different accounts. In the first man and woman were made at the same time. In the second they were made at different times. Two versions of the same event. I'd call that conflicting and that is just chapter 1 and 2 of the first book. (Wednesday Jun 12 | post #41)
I'm not angry at all. In fact I have a great deal of pity for you. I think it is very sad that you cannot see the irony , hypocrisy and general damage you do to your own cause. There was a time when I thought you were trying to run a sort of black flag operation trying to embarrass people away from their faith by being the worse example you could. Now I think you are just so insecure you think you have to persecute others to prove how superior you are. It must be exhausting to live a life like that. (Tuesday Jun 11 | post #372)
this is a good interview also. http://www.youtube .com/watch?v=92yp1 u0yfl4 (Tuesday Jun 11 | post #38)
Objective, If we were to debate one by one the conflicting statements we would spend days if not weeks months and years (depending on how intricate we care to make our arguments). I think it would be far more productive to sort of rewind our views until we find a common foundation and from that foundation build an understanding of the others perspective. It serves no one to argue our differences. Those arguments only further divide people into apposition and a sort of tribalism that keeps people divided. I believe people are far more alike than different and our own salvation (for lack of a better word) comes from how we treat others. That is what I see as the foundation of what Jesus of Nazareth taught. Retired Bishop John Spong wrote a book titled The sins of scripture in which he points out how scripture is often used to justify unjust treatment of people. You might find it interesting to read. I found a few interview segments for you. http://www.youtube .com/watch?v=uIyVW ACkii0 http://www.youtube .com/watch?v=GhW48 fRns_4 (Tuesday Jun 11 | post #37)

Objective as possible, My difficulty with your thought is that the bible is not the work of one author be that author God or man. It is a collection of many writings that have been manipulated more ways than there were men who wrote it. It is riddled with ,at the very least , conflicting information. I do see great value in the bible because many of the lessons and examples are applicable to sustaining a brotherhood of man in which we see the virtues of all men. I am a fan of the work of Thomas Jefferson who used the bible as a foundation to the book The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth. In that work Jefferson tried to remove all the supernatural and impossible leaving the teachings of Jesus to stand on their own merits. I think to teach of a Jesus who was born of a virgin and walked on water is disrespectful of the teachings of a very exceptional man worthy of our admiration, respect and devotion. I think the fact a bronze age man could see how important it is that we care for each other as Jesus of nazareth taught us is a far greater wonderment than the impossible events presented to us as miracles.
