I wouldn't be surprised if the NM Attorney General takes a peek at all of this. Something is just not right.  (Apr 14, 2008 | post #13)

There are other charities that do not discriminate. The Red Cross JUST exposed themselves for the frauds they really are. Some comments made are worth noting. Never thought of this before - HOW did they get into a deficit situation in the first place? Where did the money they DID have go? What would they have done if there was a nearby disaster? What will they DO, in a case like that? Will they knock on Fred Brito's door then? There is something shady going on and I think most people know that now. Who is going to have the guts to go national with this?? Fred Brito could have given in excess of $50,000 (and whatever he would have raised if given "permission ")...... It seems nobody at the Las Cruces Red Cross was doing their job. Money doesn't just dry up like that, not if there are energy driven, compassionate fund raiser employees working there... Who is going to take this National? Is Las Cruces the ONLY chapter with suspicious activity? DOUBT IT!  (Apr 14, 2008 | post #10)

Don't get me wrong - I am glad the LC Red Cross is recovering...but they could have had a very healthy cushion to where they wouldn't have had to struggle for quite a while if they would have given permission to Mr Brito to raise funds. It would have been the the most substantial gift in LC Red Cross history (it was virtually guaranteed, as nobody that I know runs a fundraising team like Fred Brito!). I am proud to be on Mr Brito's team of advisors under the direction of Senior Advisor David Johns.  (Apr 13, 2008 | post #5)
