SMART details options for rail construction timeline

All kinds of fail here. The SMART board would be plain stupid to consider building this for ridership without connecting to the major transport hub in Larkspur to connect to ferry or bus. Are they complete idiots? Cancel job sites up north then and start at Larkspur. Who want's to ride a multi hundred million dollar train from Petaluma to San Rafael? Not sure on the revenue stream there. They are losing any sentiment for the project fast with stupidity like this.  (Nov 4, 2010 | post #28)

Tea Party look-alike is one of three candidates challengi...

Through reading that diatribe, I picked this out because it is FALSE. Glenn Beck had nothing to do with starting the multi-headed movement known as "The Tea Party". He at first criticized it before realizing he could use it to sell more of his books and commercials. Get your facts straight. Sounds like you don't know what you are talking about and just are regurgitating something you read from a single source.  (Nov 2, 2010 | post #39)

Marin voters poke pot law

And yet he did this with the drug being illegal, for recreational use, anyway. It's about the person.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #20)

Marin voters poke pot law

Something this article didn't address is that among certain issues - especially like Prop 19, when asked on the spot in person, a good amount of people will not answer a pollster honestly. Since there is a stigma associated with saying "Yes" to this, a person is less likely to say this to a random pollster asking them in person. It is a reality that there is a skew there, so it still is anyone's game right now. Especially since it still will be a Federal crime if Prop 19 passes. Prop 8 was another example of this skew. Polls showed that it would not win, because there was a spread of people that would not answer a controversial proposition to a pollster in public. Prop 19 carries more of that issue - so I am dubious of these polls. Maybe they are right, but I think it will be close no matter what.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #16)

Saturday Readers' Forum

I also am supporting Sashi McEntee for Marin Water District. I was very impressed with her fiscal candor on the Community Access Channel. Koehler on the other hand seemed defensive (for good reason) and simply ungrounded. She had her time to set a good example, and the situation is currently failed, with her as a partner in that.  (Nov 1, 2010 | post #8)

Marin County: meter plan not smart

Pulipaca, you are not writing to someone who will understand the conversation. West Marin Native has already come out here multiple times saying you have no right to that power you pay for in your use at home. West Marin Native is an eco neo-collectivist who is emotionally gripping to his\her erroneous ideology and is an apologist even for PG&E (hysterical irony) with dream notions. Your well thought out writings on reality will fall on deaf years with him\her. West Marin Native will only blindly shout out that if you are resistant to his\her idea of "change" you must be anti-environment, and will not address the real conversation presented here. Pearls before swine...  (Oct 31, 2010 | post #43)

Except that we are not a "truly democratic society", for very good reasons. We are a Republic, a representative government. We democratically vote for our representatives, but we are not a democratic society. We are first and foremost, a nation of law as codified by our Constitution, not to be bent to the whim of the "tyranny of the majority", which sways like the ocean tides. On another note, you might wish to educate yourself on governments that lean to collectivism and their histories and failures. Our success to help others less fortunate is not based on a system which hinders economic development, by mandate and force. There are many forms of oppression. Sometimes it is by the end of a gun, sometimes with a smile and a lawyer.  (Oct 31, 2010 | post #26)

Wrong. You are completely just slathering hyperbole and bull feces. Of course you are going right down the collectivist agenda: Claim racism and class warfare. Go for ad hominem attacks versus actually debating the actual merits. You should get out more, plenty of working class and minorities are sympathetic to the Tea Party position. AND Palin is not some kind of "leader" , and is not well liked within the libertarian threads of the movement. Of course, I am not talking to you "Mark" because you are simply lying and full of misinformation, but to those still learning whom may read.  (Oct 31, 2010 | post #4)

Marin panel explores the dangers of teen 'sexting'

The context is not new - only the method. When I was a teen, we flirted immaturely and did crazy things in the same genre of risque behavior like this. Be it notes passed around, crank calls, streaking, and shenanigans at parties, and in rare instances cruel teasing. Honestly you shouldn't be surprised, again the behavior is consistent - only the method with new technology sees it expanded in a different way. So if it goes too far, attacking the symptom is short-sighted. Plenty of secure and better emotionally equipped teens will avoid the extreme examples in the article, again being a minority whom have issues. The causes and reasoning (largely parenting) for some of these teens needs to be examined, not that they are using the latest technology to do it.  (Oct 30, 2010 | post #5)
