Maine Business Leaders Take Issue With LePage Stance on I...

Illegal labor is simply that - illegal. No ethical business supports illegal or immoral explotation of people. If you do not support a current low then please use your legal means to change those laws. Without a change in current law we need to comply with these laws.  (Feb 12, 2011 | post #2)

Bill Nemitz: Governor, you're making Maine the butt of a ...

Once again, Mr. Nemitz shows his true colors. His column is very entertaining, but short on any real facts. Let's be perfectly clear here. The NAAPCP routinley acts as a racist group while purporting to be working for the advancement of colored people. It, in fact, acts to support progressive causes more often than not. To refuse to be held hostage by such a group is exactly what we WANT in a governor. There is NO racism in challenging this group to work for the advancement of all people equally. Our governor has exactly the right motive here; do not agree to be beholden to special interests. Please also refrain from using President Obama as a role model for civilty and bipartisanship. Look no further than the terrible healthcare and insurance program last month.  (Jan 16, 2011 | post #1)

Who do you support for Governor in Maine in 2010?

Experienced in spending more than we can afford. Working with people means that you have an absence of values. Maine will NOT prosper with the same failed policies of the past. How can you think that the same governance will be positive when we have 20 plus years of data that demonstrates that liberalism is a failure? it is preposterous to think that an Augusta insider will reform anything. What are possibly thinking will change? Change does NOT happen if no change occurs. Do you really think that the status quo represents change?!  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #24)

Who do you support for Governor in Maine in 2010?

Are you ignorant of what has occurred in Augusta in the past 20 years? Maine is ridiculed for poor economic policies for a reason. Go ahead, check out what Mitchell has voted for with YOUR money in the past 10 years!  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #23)

If you consider the totality of statism vs. free market economics, do you think that we can afford to spend so much more than we can pay? This, by no means, is a reflection on what society would prefer to support - just a discussion on what makes economic sense. We cannot afford to spend much more than we can afford. Why would you think otherwise? To punish future generations with YOUR failure to balance a budget is criminal. What would you call failure to pay YOUR bills on time?  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #5)

If you believe in socialism then please vote for Chellie Pingree. She has demonstrated both in Augusta and in Washigton the ability to vote with liberal and progressive leadership for policies that affirm the responsibility of the government to direct our personal affairs. If you think that somehow you are more capable of managing your personal and your communities' responsibilities then please vote for Dean Scontras. Please be aware that Scontras actually thinks that individuals should control their own lives more so than government. We realize that government is more capable of doing the right thing for us, right? I mean, who really thinks that government and bureaucracy is harmful to prosperoty?  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #4)

Burns, Collins compete for District 2 Maine Senate seat

How can anyone possibly support a candidate that continues the poor fiscal policies that we have seen over the past 20 years? We know that the status quo in Augusta is poor fiscal practice and unsustainable. Please just look at the pensions that all Mainers are obligated to pay vs. typical private plans.  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #1)

Maine Voters are more conservative than they normally vote

I will be voting for Paul LePage, Dean Scontras, Kathy Chase and Ron Collins because they believe in mor elimited governement than the incumbent majority. Furthermore, I think that most people believe in more limited governemnt than the current leadership in both Augusta and Washington. Certainly not all, but I firmly believe that more than 50% of Maine's voters support lower taxes, fewer public employees, less government intervention in consumer activities and a balanced budget.  (Oct 2, 2010 | post #1)

Maine Republican gubernatorial candidate says he would te...

It is disrespectful to suggest that you would say such a thing to the President of the United States of America. It would be better to clearly state objections to socialist programs and efforts to promote social justice. Our President is a progressive. He has promoted and policies and supported legislation that is clearly ruining the American way of life. We have federal deficits that destroying our ability to compete in the global economy. The growth in public sector jobs perpetuates this myth that any sustainable growth is possibel with these jobs. Please don't focus your election decisions on a few poor words. What do you support - the federal government controlling the majority of free markets, or private control of free enterprise? If you support the Progressive policies, please do some research to find a single example of any nation with sustainable economic prosperity with state control of the economy.  (Oct 2, 2010 | post #3)

Freedom to Marry's Evan Wolfson Looks at Those Polls Show...

Well, a liar I am not. It is true that I have never heard of the case that you refer to. I suspect, though, that it is based on state law and not the US Constitution. If Iam in error, I apologize. If that makes me ignorant, so be it. I strongly support the rights of all individuals. I simply propose a different way of ensuring those rights. It continues to strike me as odd that there is not a proposal in all states to codify the term civil union for all legal relationships, and to entitle these civil unions all of the legal rights as religious marriages, common law "marriages ", and other co-called marriages. Isn't the end result that we want to recognize the union of consenting adults  (Sep 27, 2010 | post #11)

Immigration - Brewer, ME

The law itself in not valid. It is the responsibilty of the federal government to enforce borders and federal laws. What might be good question to ask of your liberal friends is "what other federal laws do you support ignoring?". After all, we are just discussing in general the issue of whether it is permissible to fail to enforce immigration laws. If we can disregard these laws without true prosecution, are there other laws that may be up for discussion next?  (Sep 25, 2010 | post #3)

As thousands rally in Maine for DADT repeal, Snowe spews ...

The clear question here is whether you and your friends in conservatism will support a primary candidate that challenges Sen. Snowe and/or Sen. Collins. This is the time to forec the issue. Do the majority of Republican voters in Maine believe in moderates and bipartisanship, or do we believe in trun conservative ideals. These are both fiscal and socail conservative values.  (Sep 25, 2010 | post #3)

What does marriage have to do with acceptance of gay relationships? Only a bigot would oppose the right of consenting adults to have a relationship. Marriage, however, is a historical union of a woman and a man. Legal rights and marriage are not tied together through any State Constitutions. The US Constitution, altough the finest document ever to come from the US, is not relevant here. If there is a clear desire to legislate legal protection for civil unions then let's get that done in each state. Why must we devalue historical institutions to support individual and states rights?  (Sep 25, 2010 | post #9)
