Boy, 11, started fire with matches

The insurance company would protect her in the invetiable lawsuit that will result when her landlord sues her. But you are correct that the personal property would still probably not be covered since it was her child that started the fire. Renters insurance would help the other victim here... the property's owner.  (Jun 23, 2010 | post #18)

Intent sought in Winters farm fiasco

Are you kidding me? The kids left the animals OVERNIGHT. That's it. Is someone supposed to camp out at the ag site every night waiting for sick twisted people? The children do care for their own animals, and these animals were part of their student projects. The owners of these animals live inside the city limits, where they can't keep farm animals, but attend to them every day, multiple times at that. Don't try and place the blame for this on anyone other than the cruel animal abusers that did this.  (Jun 11, 2010 | post #11)

Fairfield police say body found near Lake Berryessa

I don't think I meant to be over dramatic, if that's how I came off. I just get tired of a particular group of people on this website who continually mention that anywhere that isn't Vacaville is "dangerous ". As far as Vacavillians not being made aware of what goes on, try reading The Daily Republic. Just as I find out all things Fairfield in the Vacaville paper, all of the "scandals " in Vacaville seem to end up there. Don't ask me why.  (May 20, 2010 | post #145)

Fairfield police say body found near Lake Berryessa

I'm by Safeway and Hilborn. And it is nice. Much nicer than other place's I've lived in. And not all of those areas by the Dead Presidents are bad. Like I said, there are nice pockets all over Fairfield. Sadly, it's just a matter of tenants versus owned homes for the most part...  (May 17, 2010 | post #139)

See here's where you are mistaken. Crime is not "city wide" in fairfield. And it's not just those convinient area's of Vacaville that are shady. My in-laws live in a newer, luxury tract of Foxboro. They've had their cars broken into 3 times in the last year and a half. My mother in law and I have never had anything happen. We both live in Fairfield, on opposite sides of town. So before you continue your "Vacaville is perfect" mindset, try driving around Fairfield's westside, and not just Rancho Solano. There are just as many safe areas of Fairfield as their are in Vacaville. And for the most part, the "bad part" of Fairfield is pretty centralized. Once you get out of that concentrated area, Fairfield is a pretty nice place to be.  (May 14, 2010 | post #114)

I live in Fairfield, and while there are a couple of streets I choose not to go down and avoid, most of the major shopping areas are quite safe to shop in by yourself, if you are a female. Just like Vacaville, there are some streets in your precious town I avoid even more than the ones in Fairfield. Your town isn't perfect either.  (May 14, 2010 | post #97)

Fairfield joins PG&E efforts to help needy

Why are people seeming to ignore the fact that these mothers were able to pay their cell phone bills, buy their drugs of choice, and had other discretionary funds? They could've afforded the PG&E bill, but they chose to pay other things. This isn't just a matter of "hard times". If it was, then they wouldn't have filed criminal charges...  (May 12, 2010 | post #5)

Fairfield changes some speed limits

So basically, the lowered the speed on Airbase from 50 on the one part it should've been 55 to 45? Well glad they let us residents know that before we got tickets. Thanks for the non existent warning Fairfield. I appreciate it. And I'm sure the 100's of people you pull over in the next month while word gets out will too.  (May 12, 2010 | post #8)

Clancy, Vacaville police at odds

Regardless of whether it was .078 or .78, she's still under 21, and anything over 0.001 is to high in that case. She was still intoxicated, and a minor in possesion of a controlled substance.  (Apr 15, 2010 | post #123)

Pawns of teachers union

Unlike others on this board (and the author of the letter), I'm on the same side as you. My sister is bay area teacher (not in Solano County, however) and she just got a COLA, and is taking full advantage of the unions, just like most of the more experienced teachers in her district. They are using the kids as pawns, and while the administrators are just as guilty of being overpaid, I don't think it's fair to the kids. I think that the cuts are horribly unfair, but I think that the teachers need look at themselves, and their union officials, and reconsider how much of a part they've played in this situation. I think that the entire system, unions and all needs a complete revision. And that includes paying teachers more appropriately. I am completely aware that my opinion, as well as yours and the author of the articles may not be politically correct or popular, but it's still one that holds merit.  (Mar 15, 2010 | post #74)

Road deaths continue to decline including in Solano County

Road Hog? Unless driving in one lane and minding your own business is a road hog, I don't think so. The busses like to not look before entering other lanes, and then like to swerve into my lane when turning. I've reported to the companies, and nothing changes. It's only a matter of time before another accident happens, and more casino going old folks are hurt.  (Mar 12, 2010 | post #4)

What enforcement? I see CHP drive past people talking on their cell phones, driving with out headlights in the rain and going well over 65 mph every week. I've been nearly hit 3 times this week by speeding charter busses going to casinos in the fast lanes, and I'm pretty sure that's not legal for several reasons. I think most of the people are here have just had to become more defensive drivers so as to protect themselves from the morons on the road.  (Mar 12, 2010 | post #2)
