Letters to the editor: Why Prop. 19 is a bad idea

Myself I oppose medical marijuana period. I have said this before if it was given in a pill form at your local pharmacy like any other medication I would be in favor of it. Maybe in a hospice program where a person was going to die in a week or two. Just legalize it then you don't have the over 40 pot heads running scams. I just want to give you a different view on this. Suppose you are a deer hunter in our state parks, or national parks. You come across a marijuana farm. You may be shot. It doesn't matter if it is a coop or illegal farm. The other problem is also when the feds go to destroy the farm. They have to be sure if it legal or not, and that is not easy. I'm going to vote yes on 19. We are wasting the tax payers money trying to stop something that isn't going way. I have been alive for 64 years and during my time on this planet this so call marijuana isn't going away. I know it will pass, but it will be tied up in court for another 64 years and I won't be alive then. I find it totally dum to have it legal for some and not for the masses. It is easier to get a marijuana pass in the state of Califronia then getting a permit for selling hotdogs no joke!!!!!!  (Oct 31, 2010 | post #5)

Azusa wins eminent domain case against Furniture Station,...

You will never win eminent domain case. The city won't get away with the 1.1 million either. They will have to pay about 2.5 million if not more. I would be surprise if it is less. So the city may not purchase it. It would be based on the land and lost revenue to the owner.  (Oct 23, 2010 | post #19)

Ruben Navarrette: The housekeeper and the candidate

I wasn't going to post on this subject. Of course she knew the housekeeper was illegal. If Whitman claims she didn't know. That means she was paying under the table. Oops somebody let IRS know. If she hired the housekeeper as contract worker. Like your gardener who runs his own business, or from Agency. (Not likely) If this housekeeper was a single contract worker you would still have file a tax form called an R1099 I can't remember the form, but you get the point. Another point Whitman would still have to report to Social Security to pay the her half of the tax money to Social Security. When you hiring a worker you still need to check Social Security to verify if it is the person you hired and you have check their ID with a picture on it. Not the green card you have check with the agency that issued it. If you believe her then you don't get out much.  (Oct 3, 2010 | post #9)

I'm all for it. Get rid of the so called phony legal medical marijuana. I have been saying this for years. Myself I don't like marijuana I can't stand the smell. I will vote yes. I would use the same rules as you would have apply for cigarettes and cigarettes smokers. Don't even use the same rules as you did with the joke (medical marijuana). Now you would have more police officers contolling traffic and reducing crime. My motto is this Control traffic you control crime. The State of California would make a fortune from marijuana and from the people who refuse to follow the rules of the road. I'm always right!  (Oct 3, 2010 | post #10)

BREAKING: San Gabriel man guilty of murder in Adenhart crash

I think that anybody kills somebody with their car should spend at least 20 years in prison. Regardless. Traffic needs to be controlled. You controll the car no one else. If the traffic was controlled this human being would not be in jail at least not for killing someone. If he had killed someone else beside a famous sport figure. I wonder what he would have got.  (Sep 27, 2010 | post #18)
