Nothing EVER happens in a white trash town

A small but heartfelt "eek!" seems called for....  (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #2)

Let's write a limerick!

No, Binky, nobody's going to MAKE you (the mind sickens at some interpretations of that....). It is now apparent that you and your little cadre of disciples has driven about everyone else away -- and that now includes me: I'm cancelling my Topix registrations, both in my name and as Luci. I do not wish you, and Ron/Merv, and Shitman, and JFK (whoever it is), and all your other aliases well... I'm sure you return the sentiment and will wax emphatic about that.  (Sep 3, 2009 | post #184)

Ted Kennedy Croaked last night...

Yep. Here's what I sent him: To quote you: "I see you're taking time out of your busy schedule to monitor things on these silly threads." "Yeah, I've been thoroughly enjoying seeing you get your butt kicked around the block by what's apparently at LEAST two people who are 'way cleverer than you. I confess to a certain glee in having fomented the creatdive juices of other limerick writers. . . especially since you suck so badly at 'em. "But I'm really trying to stay off Topix, and would NOT have been back, had some chucklehead not asked me the question, and then proceeded to mangle logic in further attack. Sorta reminded me of you...." If that sounds to Binky like a 'love note', he's even crazier than I thought. Just figured I'd make this 'love note' crap crystal clear....  (Sep 2, 2009 | post #80)

And, with that, I'm done with this exchange. In the words of Sinator, this is "prattle " which is unworthy of further effort on my part.  (Sep 1, 2009 | post #74)

It is a "lie" because I've been following the silliness here? It is a "fact" that I should NOT respond when asked a direct question == which is deficient in its phrasing and its meaning? It is a lack of "self-control " because I answered a direct question, aimed specifically at me by name, from an anonymous troll? (Well, one could make a case for that conclusion, I guess.) I am to blame because "JFK" couldn't tell the difference between a simple statement of fact and what he wanted to be "a promise"? (And I AM THE ONE who's been accused of being exclusionist!?!) Follow this, JFK: You're an idiot.  (Sep 1, 2009 | post #73)

No. It's a fact. Leave me alone and I'll avoid you -- but stupidity in understanding the difference between facts and promises is not a promising sign on your part. In other words: You and your ilk don't bait me, and I won't respond -- in kind or otherwise -- on these silly threads you currently have going. OK?  (Sep 1, 2009 | post #69)

Without question or reservation: No. I have no part of what's going on these days....  (Aug 31, 2009 | post #65)

Yup, I'm notorious for dishonoring other people's dead. That MUST be why those two have done it to Gene so often. About your second consideration: I know of some who should be glad that I'm not on your fictional 'death panels.' Maybe then, I'd be able to do for their loved ones what some of you have done for mine.  (Aug 26, 2009 | post #124)

Mourning"? No; one gets past that after a year or two. But remembrance goes on -- and when you and your buddy Eric disparage that remembrance, then anger shows up. And that's another thing you haven't 'observed', because you're too busy doing little to justify the oxygen you consume.  (Aug 26, 2009 | post #120)

Good God, Merv, how wilfully blind and vicious is it possible for you to be? As I said PLAINLY in Post #91 (and that in reference to an even prior post), I don't have all the answers. Is it truly necessary for you to be such a stupid and eager debunker of "Mr. Cannon" that you remain unaware of all that's gone before? Or are you simply stupid and vicious?  (Aug 22, 2009 | post #93)

There is just no doubt in your mind that the insurance companies and pharmaceutical outfits know better than the citizens and their elected representatives, how to best deliver care? For you, there is no doubt that a profit-driven system is best, is there? There is no acceptable alternative to the current system, is there? We MUST continue to create two of the highest-profit sectors of American business, while our quality of care slips further and further down the scale of the world's medical care, right? We must, at all costs, not disrupt a system which is flawed seriously -- that correct? OK. I'll leave you to it, and with it. As they say, "I'm outta here."  (Aug 21, 2009 | post #87)

...and perhaps I should mention that, after Gene died, I got bills totalling almost $6000 from doctors whose names appeared NOWHERE in her treatment records. I sent the bills back, asking who in hell they were and for some proof of services rendered. Ya know, I never heard another word from any of 'em! I was lucky: Among our four daughters and I, we covered Gene's hospital stay virtually 24/7, and thus KNEW who'd delivered care. . . and we kept a careful diary of events. This, too, sort of soured me on American medicine.  (Aug 21, 2009 | post #83)

Goat, I've twice been exposed to the financial realities of American 'health care'. Both times, we were "covered by insurance", and in one case double-covered by a supplemental medical policy. The first instance cost me almost $240,000 -- or would have, had bankruptcy not been an option. The second instance cost $95,000 AFTER both Medicare and the supplemental had 'covered' Gene. Fortunately, I had the cash that time and coughed it up. These experiences did not leave me feeling that we've "solved" anything, or that "medical insurance" was all it's cracked up to be. In the current situation, it leaves me wondering if you and your fellow parrots have ever really been in the clutches of the medical establishment? Those of us who have been usually disagree with you....  (Aug 21, 2009 | post #82)

God knows you don't share my mindset! I've freely and repeatedly said that I don't have answers on this whole issue, beyond a gut feeling that there HAS to be a better way than what we have now. Unlike you and your cadre of True Believers, I'm not in favor of (or opposed to) any of the plans supposedly being batted around by Congresscreeps, or being lobbied against by the health industry and their Big Pharma buddies. I don't mind disagreements; what hacks me off and turns me off is an attitude which says, "I have all the answers, because somebody told 'em to me." It's like the old bumper sticker: "God said it; I believe it, and that settles it!" I am always suspicious of those who "have all the answers" -- especially when that's combined with, "Now you do too, because I TOLD you." Sorry.  (Aug 21, 2009 | post #81)
