And when the majority can trample the rights of the minority, then this country can no longer be called "America. You are being foolish, and by voting yes, you are voting to TAKE AWAY THE RIGHTS of American citizens. How can you possibly justify that? Churches will ALWAYS have autonomy in this country, it's one of the founding principles of our nation. There are still churches in the south who won't perform inter-racial marriages. While I think that is abhorrent, it is their right to practice this discrimination. And why, with all of the churches and synagogues that WILL marry same-sex couples, would a couple choose to go to a church that they KNOW will turn them down? That would be the utmost in stupid grandstanding. AS to the father you claim was put in jail in Massachusetts, please list your source for this story. I don't believe it, because in EVERY STATE in America, children are NOT required to attend health education classes if their parents don't allow it. Please cite your authority to be making statements that you proport to be fact about genetic science. Attraction to the same sex is innate and unmalleable; attempts to change one's sexual orientation through therapy have been proven to be dangerous. While it is true that no single gene has been found that controls sexual orientation, it is also true that no gene has been found that controls hand preference. Some scientific theories have been found to have some merit; i.e. that sexual orientation is a result of in vitro hormonal stimulation coupled with the activation of *sets* of genes. EVERY theory that stipulated mistreatment or abuse in childhood, absent fathers and dominating mothers et al have been roundly disproven. Also, the fact that homosexuality appears in very reliable percentages in ANY human population, indeed EVERY human population, regardless of that population's view of homosexuality, is VERY strong evidence that homosexuality is a part of the human condition. That it has been observed in over 1,000 animal species only strengthens the theory that homosexual is a NATURAL and EVOLUTIONARY development, and as such, has nothing to do with choice, morality, or religion. You already have all the recognition for your marriage that you need, but if you want to flaunt your legal superiority (for the time being) by having "straight pride parades" then by all means, knock yourself out. Can you please tell us how homosexual people marrying will have ANY effect on you at all? If my marriage affects yours IN ANY WAY, then your marital problems are pretty bad, and you should focus on them instead of what your neighbors are doing in the privacy of their own homes. Your fear for children is unfounded and patently ridiculous, fueled I am sure by the outrageous propaganda that the Yes on Hate campaign is pushing. It is a SCIENTIFIC FACT that children with gay parents do equally as well in all aspects of their development, sometimes better, than do their counterparts raised by heterosexual parents.
