Mainly Drinks (Service or Lack of)

Went there for the 1st time Saturday night, had a drink, meal and listened to the bamd that was playing. Food was great, but they did not have the beer I selected from the menu. Was given a recommendation for a similar pale ale and it was a good. Service wasn't excellent, but it was what i would call good. We will go back when the opportunity arises.  (Dec 18, 2012 | post #75)

It must have been sent out only to selected members. I know of several that didn't get an email. I didn't either.  (Dec 2, 2010 | post #1015)

I really don't think this forum is the correct method to advise the members of LPLSRA of meeting changes. Emails and notices should be sent out if the "normal" meeting date/time is changed. Also, tha post by APEX lead me to believe the December LPLSRA meeting was to be held in conjunction with the 4H meeting on the 10th. Maybe I misinterpreted the post... "The LP Rodeo is teaming up with 4-H for there next meeting. It's there Christmas Social to help bring in new people to add to their membership and volunteer with the LP Rodeo. It will be Dec. 10 @ 6:30 P.M. It will be held at the Magical Creation Ballroom on Fairmont and Driftwood."  (Dec 2, 2010 | post #1012)

Police: La Porte man suspected of sexually assaulting you...

There is no excuse for this. People who abuse children have no place in society.  (May 12, 2010 | post #3)

Other politicians...

I would imagine they do visit the site to see what is going on to get a feel for the opinions, but to get engaged in a thread takes a bit of time most of them probably don't have. Out of all the candidates running for office in the upcoming local elections, how many are "active" in posting?  (Apr 18, 2010 | post #7)

Other politicians...

I'll throw out my opinion - most folks are pretty busy with their jobs, families, hobbies, etc. and have little time for trying to keep up with a forum such as this. I know I have very little time to look at these post on a consistent basis, and I'm not a politician.  (Apr 18, 2010 | post #4)

Meet the candidates!

Heavy, as a resident in La Porte, I want to post my opinion. This is not an attack on you, just my opinion about what I have read here and my position on this race. Tommy Moser is a successful businessman in this community and as far as I know, has done nothing associated with his city council position to enrich himsef. If there are issues that have been voted on where he personally gained, please provide the infomration on the forum so the voters can make a decision based on facts. I have seen posts on this forum where you have attacked or bullied people who opposed your views. Again, as a voter, I would like to see a level headed individual representing La Porte as well as someone who can respond to criticism without attacking. The world is full of people with differing opinions, and it makes a difference how you respond to criticism. City government is run like a business and decisions have to be made regarding what is best for the city and the residents. Again, these are my personal views and not meant as an attack on you. You may have been around the world and experienced lots of different things, but I'm not sure they would help you in making decisions on what is best for our community.  (Apr 18, 2010 | post #138)

La Porte Livestock Show And Rodeo

Barn checks by the Livestock Super. or animal leaders were done to make sure the animals were kept and cared for by the exhibitor and not off somewhere else being fed by a 3rd party. When it was done properly, and unannounced except for a 30 minute heads up they were coming, people were less likely to pull tricks. People respected the fact that it was a random check, and it made folks less suspicious of their fellow exhibitor. Why that process was eliminated is beyond me. But, in some cases, people "felt" that the animal leader was spying on their projects on the barn checks. (At least that's what the adults were saying). So, what if someone saw your pig, or goat? Big deal!! It was more a personality conflict than a real problem. My opinion is that the FFA and 4H leaders need to be more active in insuring the students are caring for and feeding their projects. Let me also point out that in the past some folks have been kind enough to allow a student to raise an animal on their own personal property that otherwise would not have had an opportunity to participate due to them not having facilities. You can twist it any way you like, but bottom line is many of these people helped the LPLSRA program grow bigger than it woud have otherwise been capable and helped a young adult learn valuable lessons about responsibility.  (Nov 20, 2009 | post #514)
