Low river level spurs push for boat launch

Please explain how this situation would be different if we had a Home Wrong(Rule) Charter system instead of Police Jury. Remember, even though Ricky is the president, he is still just one vote. From what I've heard, he has very little influence with the other jurors.  (Jul 24, 2012 | post #24)

West Feliciana Divided on Growth

This parish doesn't want change. The only police juror that has even tried to change the parish was Ms. Howle with the noise ordinance. The only other jurors that backed the ordinance was Williams and Otis. If Lambert, Keene, Young & Percy can't support that little bit of change, you think they would support what "affordable housing" would do to their property values, I don't think so. It will be too late if this parish doesn't start to change, and change quickly!  (Jun 14, 2012 | post #13)

parish manager / police jury

What APPAULED is not tell you: 1. That employee chose her original retirement date, not the jury. 2. If the jury had granted her a different date it would have cost the parish up to $14,000 dollars.  (May 5, 2012 | post #3)

noise ordiance

This is simple. It's basic property rights. You are looking at it from the point of your property rights. Government regulation of property take into account the rights of all citizens.  (Feb 23, 2012 | post #10)

noise ordiance

Government restricts property all the time. Do you have to get a permit to build a house on your property? Yes… What if the government wants to buy your property, can they force you to sell it? Yes... Can you divide your land up into lots and start selling them without government approval? No... Can the Government take your property if you don't pay your taxes? Yes... These are all forms of government restriction on private property that already exist. When your rights infringe upon the rights of your neighbors, then the government must and will step in, to protect property rights, whether it is your neighbor’s property rights, or yours. So in the end, all the Ordinance is doing is protecting property.  (Feb 22, 2012 | post #7)

New Parish Manager, Jury Secretary Named

Mrs. Johnson is an excellent replacement for Mrs. Smith. Becky Hilliard loves to stir up trouble, even when it's not there. If it's not there, she will invent it. She needs to get a Life. If she's so concerned for the parish, she should run for office, but then she would have to actually work. And of course, if she ran for office she would have to be nice to people for a little while. It's much easier to stand on the outside and throw stones.  (Feb 21, 2012 | post #2)

Anyone hear anything about a new grocery store by current...

Wing It is definitely coming back. It didn't close because it wasn't making money, there were other reasons. It's reopening in about a month.  (Feb 4, 2012 | post #35)

Ship sailed

Apparently you have never been in a town before, during, and after an Oil Boom. The biggest problem when an oil boom hits an area is that things move too fast. They outpace the abilities of local governments and businesses. If anything, the oil drilling companies will get even greater support from West Feliciana Parish because we need the money.  (Feb 1, 2012 | post #3)

The owners of the grocery stores are related but they are not owned by the same people. The family that runs the small store plan to build a new store by the NAPA store.  (Jan 19, 2012 | post #8)

I heard that the people who own the little store will build a big store close to NAPA. The little store will then become a family dollar.  (Jan 14, 2012 | post #5)

W. Feliciana jurors vote for pay raise, sack board member

It's hard to justify Sims staying on board in any capacity in this parish. If he is as smart as he believes he is, then he should have known that there would eventually be consequences for the way he treated other police jurors and the public.  (Jan 11, 2012 | post #2)

POlice Jurors Shut Down Williams

Back Door Politics from the get-go. Lambert is the new Dawson so that makes Kean the new Sims or the new Shoemake, or is Otis the new Shoemake. This is all so very confusing and Corrupt!  (Jan 9, 2012 | post #4)
