I've been there and the jewelry side they were very friendly & helpful. The floral side just did flowers for our wedding and they were both beautiful & very reasonably priced. I would recommend them to anyone. (Nov 21, 2012 | post #10)
He there! I'm actually calling the Governors office Monday and should finally get the information I'm looking for, but thanks for being willing to help!! Have a great weekend! (Oct 27, 2012 | post #5)
No I started this and I'm not sure if you can see my profile but that should clear up who I am and where I'm from. If not I totally have no problem telling you my real name, just let me know. (Oct 27, 2012 | post #5)
Last night my family ate at Denny's and I just wanted to say that we had a really nice & friendly waitress. I think her name was Justina?(if I remember right.) She always had a smile on her face and kept our drinks full. Oh and the food was really good too!! Thank you waitress Justina! (Oct 27, 2012 | post #1)
As will you for being judgmental. (Oct 26, 2012 | post #35713)
Thanks huh? I'll do that Monday!! (Oct 26, 2012 | post #3)
I called DHS in Chester today for the sole purpose of getting some information. It took forever to get through to someone and when I finally did the lady was rude and had absolutely no idea of what I was talking about but still told me what her OPINION was on the subject. When I asked her if she was sure that this in fact was the truth and not just her opinion (or at least her best guess) she assured me it was. I politely asked her how she could be so certain when just a minute before she didn't even have any idea of what I was asking about and hadn't asked anyone or tried to look up the answer. Needless to say the phone call didn't last much longer. Has anyone else in Randolph/Monroe counties experienced this kind of behavior when calling there. It's not like I was asking for her to give me anything more than just (factual) information. Are there other county DHS offices that are more knowledgable (of state policies/laws) and helpful than there? Does anyone have any suggestions of where to call for information or at least resources of places to get information?? I called Springfield AND Chicago and all I got was a recording telling me they were helping other callers and to call back. The call was then dropped, I didn't even have the option of holding. Thanks for any and all help you can give me. Have a great weekend. (Oct 26, 2012 | post #1)
You're so right Justin. I don't even mind someone hiding behind fake screen names as long as they can carry on an intelligent conversation, even if they have some issue with me. I respect everyone's right to their opinion however it's sad to see when the only thing a person can do is to say mean and hurtful things. And when I refer to being unintelligent or someone being uneducated I'm not referring to how much schooling a person has had, I am referring to the ability to make sense and not having to resort to name calling to try to convey their feelings. Have a Good Friday Justin! (Oct 26, 2012 | post #30)
You're continuing to prove the point I made in my response to your last incomprehensible post, if you want anyone to take you or your comments seriously then learn to at minimum, make some sort of sense when you speak. You do have enough intelligence to notice I have not once said anything mean or disrespectful to you or called you names, right? And to the very nice & nonjudgmental people that have participated in this thread, the only reason I do actually respond to this person is mainly because I feel sorry for them but I will admit its also quite humorous to see what ignorant comment "just stop me" will come up with next. It's been 3 years since my son went to Jackson High School and I'm sure that some of the administration and staff has changed in that time but our family's experience was a positive and primarily a happy one. The teachers he had were really good as well and were always helpful and nice. (Oct 25, 2012 | post #2)
Hi steak. My lifestyle choice was to move to Columbia. And being welcomed for that choice was very much appreciated. I have never brought sex or as you called it "sex things" into the conversation as I don't see how that had anything to do with this conversation in any context. Being gay or lesbian ultimately has nothing to do with the act of sex. If you were a virgin would it mean you were any less straight than (I assume) you are? And to answer your last question, because welcoming people to your town is the way you make them feel comfortable and hopefully get to know them and let them get to know you. It's the way that people are encouraged to get involved in their community and support local businesses, etc. Have a good evening steak. (Oct 25, 2012 | post #26)
Your completely entitled to your opinion. I'm also entitled to mine and mine is that you need to learn how to spell and make complete coherent sentences before posting here. All you're accomplishing is showing your lack of intelligence and education with what you (tried) to say. Somebody really should have stopped you. ;-) (Oct 25, 2012 | post #25)
Also, please do not judge me on my horrible grammar in my last two posts. As I've reread them I've seen several of my mistakes. That's what I get for typing too fast on my phone. Lol. (Oct 25, 2012 | post #59)
Oh and I forgot to mention that I am so very happy that Candi has her fiancé in her and her kids lives. He really is a great guy and Candi deserved to be loved the way she is now, he too is quite lucky to have her. :-) (Oct 25, 2012 | post #58)
Quite well said Bethany!! I too have known Candi & her daughter for many years as well as most of the rest of her great family and you couldn't ask for better, more loyal, honest and giving people than them. True that her daughter dresses in her own style and kudos to her for having the self esteem and pride in who she is to do so! I personally think she's beautiful inside and out just like her momma. I wish there were more people that were like her. I don't live in Jackson anymore due to marriage but that area will always be home. I am new to Topix and reading some of the mean spirited and judgemental posts that are on the Jackson forum makes me sad. I really expected better from the people in Jackson. Not that they're "better" there but in such a beautiful town as Jackson I just had more respect for its citizens. That being said, everyone has a right to their opinion but when you know it'll hurt someone why post it here for people to see knowing it will do nothing but make someone feel bad. I truly believe those that do post stuff like that are trying to make themselves feel better because they ate unhappy in their own lives for some reason. It's not our place to judge anyone for ANY reason and were supposed to treat others as we would hope to be treated. I am blessed to have been able to have lived in Jackson, am extremely proud of my home town which is Cape and privileged to now live in the community I do here in Columbia, IL. I just pray that as a society were able to grow and learn to have acceptance, support and love for all human beings. If everyone look, behaved & believed exactly the same it would be very boring and dull life. That's my thoughts on things and if your are different that's ok. God bless you & gave a beautiful day!!
