Lost to Me Profile
See the post above. I think he covered it pretty well and saved me from a lot of typing. (Apr 8, 2011 | post #147)
You can keep the insurance you have, but you can't switch policies once the law is in effect. IE the next guy can't get private insurance that isn't approved by a Health Czar. That's a take over. Starting 2013, you won't be able to get any insurance that isn't part of the 'plan'. That's a take over. Lets not forget that if I choose to purchase private insurance there will be a 2.5% tax on my policy. Never mind that the company and I both already pay taxes. That's a takeover. You have the option not to participate, but it will cost you. You have the option not pay into this thing at all? No. One way or another I pay for your preexisting condition. That's a takeover. Last for this post lets not forget that there is an 8% tax on jobs for companies can't afford to buy into Obamacare. That won't cost anyone their job will it? That's called a take over. The GOP failed 18 years ago for 2 reasons. 1) it was wrong then and it's wrong now and 2) the left didn't like it then. Go figure. You say personal responsibility but you confuse it with Government action. Personal responsibility is something you take care of yourself, hence personal. If you are forced by the government to do something it's personal alright, just like rape is personal. (Apr 8, 2011 | post #144)
Anytime you use the words example and Kucinich in the same sentence you know you're in trouble. But I digress. Watered down you say? It takes over 1/6 of the US economy but you call it watered down. There's a real estate sales tax included, has nothing to do with Healthcare, it's watered down though. You will be forced to join regardless, but you want a public option. We'd like some options too you know. Like the option to NOT participate.... (Apr 7, 2011 | post #138)
How many Democrats voted against that bill? 34 It barely passed as it stood with a vote of 219-212. So even a good number of Democrats knew this thing was crap, thus the reason it's so long. It took a lot of pork BS attached to it just to get a majority of Dems to vote on it. Even Obama is trying to get some of those stupid rules and amendments removed now. Why, because we have to pass it to know what's in it.... Again, your being the very thing you purport to hate. God knows America hates a hypocrite. (Apr 7, 2011 | post #131)
Yeah, tell that to the millions that will be forced to pay for your preexisting condition. Tell that to the poor that would rather have more take home pay instead of buying health insurance. Tell that to the millions of businesses that will be forced to let people go to remain profitable. Better yet, tell it to the European nations that are getting killed with healthcare costs and going under. (Apr 7, 2011 | post #128)
They are also the exact same people that told us the bulk of insurgents in Iraq came from Libya... Well now we're providing close air support for them. (Apr 7, 2011 | post #127)
That right there is the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone say on these boards. Make your case for the bill ok, but seriously don't pretend for 1 second the Constitution not only supports but calls for it. (Apr 7, 2011 | post #126)
You failed to address the bulk of my post. You say it was watered down. How many pages are there in that bill? An exceedingly large portion of that crap fest wasn't even about healthcare. How many Republicans voted for that bill in Congress? 0 How many Democrats voted against that bill? 34 It barely passed as it stood with a vote of 219-212. So even a good number of Democrats knew this thing was crap, thus the reason it's so long. It took a lot of pork BS attached to it just to get a majority of Dems to vote on it. Even Obama is trying to get some of those stupid rules and amendments removed now. Why, because we have to pass it to know what's in it.... Again, your being the very thing you purport to hate. You weren't paying attention when the Health Scare bill was being rammed down our throats were you? The right didn't have any say, they didn't water it down. Nancy P had all the votes she needed in Dems to pass anything she wanted, and it still took HOW long to pass that BS? Lets not forget that no one know what was in it in total when it was voted on. Nancy said: We'll have to pass it to see what's in it. If that isn't the dumbest thing I've heard from a house speaker... You complain about partisan politics but then blame blame blame... You are the thing you purport to hate. (Apr 7, 2011 | post #116)
Interesting. When he had the super majority he wasn't soft on the right. He crammed the healthcare bill down their throats and smiled the whole time. Now that the right owns congress he simply can't be 'hard' on them. They own congress and thus the money. He has to play ball now or they'll never let him get anything he wants. Welcome to DC! :D (Apr 6, 2011 | post #107)
This part right here, this could just as easily be about Obama yeah? But we digress. Bush isn't in charge today... (Apr 5, 2011 | post #96)
I was never a big fan of Bush either and I called him out when I thought he crossed the line. You should hear what I have to say about the Patriot Act. It's full of expletives. I agree that partisan politics are ruining the nation. I also think people in power completely disregarding the laws of our nation are ruining our country. Being President isn't a free pass to wipe your ass on the constitution. (Apr 5, 2011 | post #95)
It's not you're job to defend him here on Topix either...or is it? (Apr 5, 2011 | post #83)
I think you're referring to stinger missile systems. No, he doesn't have any because we didn't sell him any. Now you're just reaching in a desperate attempt to hold a failing line. We nor our interests were under direct threat. You keep saying it and keep failing to provide an example of where we were threatened. Again in a desperate attempt to hold a failing line. Try something new, this isn't working. (Apr 4, 2011 | post #77)
