Body art controversy more than skin deep

That's simply NOT the case anymore. This is the 21st century. Now, to be sure, a Job on Wall street or in big business will not be on the block for someone with tatoos and/or piercings, but just from the nature of the personality of those professions, it wouldn't happen anyway. I am a licensed professional and I have piercings and tattoos.  (Aug 10, 2012 | post #106)

Rangers talk back

Yeah Tavares looked awesome, but the Rangers played like crap and still could have won without the two bad calls. Callahan was also a bad call, there was no way he could have stoopped on one skate from hitting Nabokov. The Doyle and Callahan calls were the goal scoaring penalties, so without them it's 2-1 Rangers . I've watched hockey for enough years to know they DO even out over time...  (Oct 18, 2011 | post #6946)

NYS Furloughs

So it's a big difference when the Private unions step in to voice their opinion of Cuomo's bullying tactics. After PEF members told him to stick his insulting contract the SEIU decided we were serious about not being raked over the coals, so they sent negotiators, effectively telling Cuomo "stop picking on the Public Unions or pay for it at re-election" Todays deal is not much better than the one that was voted down but with language that almost guarantees no layoffs, it will probably do the trick, Not even Cuomo is stupid enough to lay off 3500 tax paying citizens and not expect to be hurt by it come election time in 2014. PEF members are and always were willing to share sacrifice, just as we have for the last 3 years as we've given up nearly 5000 positions to attrition that have saved NY millions of $$. We make less than our private sector counterparts and have always done so knowing that we'll be covered by a reasonable pension when we retire. Contrary to popular belief the average PEF retiree earns $18,000 - $24,000 a year, no PEF members are getting rich retiring from NY state service, that luxury lies solely with cops and teachers...  (Oct 18, 2011 | post #577)

Gay Marriage - Ronkonkoma, NY

SO wait, you oppose Gay marriage because to YOU marriage should only be in the "biblical " sense of one man one woman, but then I'm supposed to believe you're an iconoclast? OK I get it, you bought a new Thesaurus and just picked iconclast as your word of the day right? As for the 31 states....So the BIGOTRY and fear of the majority is supposed to rule the day? the whole concept of having a democratic REPUBLIC as opposed to a democracy, is to PROTECT the minoritis from the bigotry of the majority. Majority rule = Mob rule. I'm sorry, but I don't want a mob to tell anyone who they should marry. 30 years ago you would get the same results from a survey about a mixed race marriage, do you want there to be a law about that? are you a race bigot as well as a sexuality bigot? No need to pity my children, unlike you, they are healthy normal adults who can think for themselves without being brainwashed. You obviously have never spent a great deal of time around animals. I have seen all kinds of different male animals mount males, now, to be fair, I have never seen female homosexuality in other mammals, but MOST mammals do not have sex for pleasure other than primates and dolphins. This last point is where your logic completely and utterly FAILS. First - last time I checked 10% is more than a handful. Next, homosexuals are not forcing anything on anyone, what they are asking for is to be treated as equal human beings. Your logic is absurd, how is someone else getting married forcing YOU to do anything except look the other way? If you're as ugly as you are stupid I'm sure you're used to people looking the other way around you.  (Sep 5, 2011 | post #22)

Gay Marriage - Ronkonkoma, NY

You're ignorant because you don't think for yourself you spew what you've been told to by either the church or your favorite conservative politician. The vast majority of Americans don't give a flying fart, and the vast majority of "traditional marriage" supporters also support divorce since they have done so. Your point, yet again, is from ignorance. The decline of society is heralded by idiots like you who think you can legislate morality and conformity. I'm far more afraid of exposing my children to your particular brand of stupid than I am of them witnessing a same sex married couple. Gay, - as in homosexuality occurs in nature among nearly every species of mammal. Abject stupidity on the level you exhibit is exclusive to Humans who think they have the right to force their morality on other humans.  (Aug 16, 2011 | post #11)

Gay Marriage - Ronkonkoma, NY

I DO know something about you. I know that you are ignorant and your judgment is poor. Why do YOU have to step in and be involved in SOMEONE elses sexual preference? What difference does it make to you or to society if two pweople of the same sex marry? How does it posibly change your day to day exixtance? I'll answer for you, it doesn't. What you want is to control other people that you feel are "different " than you. T hat's simply not normal. So again I will say, The Gay folks wanting to marry are far more NORMAL than YOU...  (Aug 16, 2011 | post #9)

The ones I know are far more normal than you. What difference does another person's sexuality make in your life? NONE whatsoever, so your ranting and raving signifies NOTHING.  (Aug 13, 2011 | post #6)

Rangers talk back

That's typical for NHL contracts now. He'll probably only play 5 and the contract is front loaded but not by too much so that the last few years when he's not playing he still gets paid but the Rangers dn't take as much of a salary hit...and they take a lighter hit now as well.  (Jul 3, 2011 | post #6902)
