Summer Rec

It is my understanding summer rec is paid for by donations. Let's not turn this into an argument against socialism. The program has been around for years and it is better than the other "recreation " you see some dirtbags around town enjoying in public.  (Jun 11, 2009 | post #9)

Responsible Smokers

When you smoke in the car, roll the window down.. Doesn't take a rocket scientist.. I hate that when people leave the windows up. Of course, it wont be long before the nanny state says rolling the windows down is bad for kids because of car exhaust or some other such hooey..  (Mar 26, 2009 | post #4)

A Reconciliation on Gay Marriage

Websters defines marriage as "State of being husband and wife;" Does that settle it for youOk, using this logic, I should be able to marry my best friend, even though we are of the same sex, not in love, and not homosexual? Should we then allow group marriages too? I mean, there is no law against threesomes, so why can't I have 2 wives, or 20 for that matter? Wait, why can't I have 2 husbands and 3 wives? Let us go even further.. Why is incest wrong if the couple is homosexual? They are obviously not going to procreate with each other (well, not yet anyway). You want to know why we don't call the above "legal arrangements" marriage? Because they do not meet the criteria of the majorities definition of marriage. Just like the Government does not recognize football as basketball, even though they are both recognized as sports. Gay people are in general just as repulsed by incest as heteros, but who are WE do deny "rights" to these people? Are not incestuous gays people too?  (Feb 25, 2009 | post #461)

Pity the Limbaugh fan

You see, here it is. If a white conservative gets addicted to a drug, he should be shut away forever. A black liberal, well, that is different, he should be mayor of Chicago..  (Feb 25, 2009 | post #90)

Republicans denounced

Those in here who seem to think the Conservative is now the minority and Republicans will never be in power again are about as ignorant as their counterparts who said the same thing when the GOP took over the House/Senate/White House about 7-8 years ago. Everyone then said the Democratic party was gone, over with, etc.. Trust me, when Obama breaks the bank of the citizen and has them in USSR style bread lines, the pubs will come right back in.. Not that the parties care about changing anything, but this talk that either party is done is stupid at best..  (Feb 25, 2009 | post #48)

A Reconciliation on Gay Marriage

Ok, due to the lack of a preview button, my quoting got messed up and I included part of my response in the quote. To make it more clear: Regardless of someones "role" in a marriage, you still call the woman the wife and man the husband. I mean, if the persons role had anything do with it, Sarah Palin would call her man the wife (using your logic). However, she and everyone else calls him her husband. It has little to do with roles.  (Feb 25, 2009 | post #451)

A Reconciliation on Gay Marriage

I don't believe I have any failures in my marriage. What you want to call your relationship is no business of mine. We are however discussing the PUBLIC stance when referring to Government policy. Before this turns into a "Your just a homophobe" discussion, I would like to state the following for the "record" : I completely believe in equal rights. I believe in the cause of making sure Gay people enjoy the same rights as everyone else. I am overjoyed that our society has come so far in this area. Right now, I want this movement to end on a high note. I fear that after battling all this time to establish themselves, this Gay marriage thing is self destructive as it tries to reinforce stereotypes that the gay relationship is exactly like a hetero one, just different body parts. For all INTENTS and purposes, it is looking like it is ending the way the civil rights movement of the 60's did when MLK pushed for a colorblind society but in the end radicals strove for just the opposite with institutions such as affirmative action.  (Feb 25, 2009 | post #450)
