Talk of the villages bigotry

I have respect for what you said here. I would have a lot more respect for you if you had said it to me in person when we were sitting next to each other at Crispers a few weeks ago. We had a nice conversation. Why didn't you bring up these thoughts at that time? We easily could have excused ourselves from the group and talked it over. Anytime you want to meet for a discusson, let me know. You know very well there are lots of racist and bigoted remarks on TOTV. As a Quaker, it offends me to see that and I do call it out. I have never said anything that would be hurtful or disrespectful of a woman! I may not tactful at times and should restrain myself more.  (Tuesday Jul 7 | post #62)

Talk of the villages bigotry

Thank you, Visitor, for this post. It was a very powerful and eye opening to me. I am being brutally sincere and not sarcastic. I hate to use the term life changing but it very well might have done that. I sincerely apologize to all that my words have hurt. I will try my hardest not to do it again. I will continue to read and post on TOTV but not in a name calling way or snide way again. Once again, my sincere apology to all who were hurt or offended by my insensitive posts. Thank you to opening my eyes to how others felt.  (Sunday Jul 5 | post #59)

Talk of the villages bigotry

Hey, is it really fair to label all the Republicans and Tea Party as bigots? No, definitely not. There are definitely some in The Villages but basically people stick together with who they are alike. I personally do know two bigots and when I found that out, I dropped them from my social circle Just stick with good people and let the few bigots alone. Don't poke them and they will not bother you. This is labeled Florida's Friendliest Hometown. Let's do all we can to keep it friendly for all.  (Sunday Jul 5 | post #55)

Pets in The Villages

I would be very happy to be reincarnated as a Villages dog. It would be a wonderful and pampered life. Do not be down on the Villagers who adopt a dog. The pet adds to their life and they add to the dog's life.  (Jul 1, 2015 | post #2)

Are The Villages the best place to retire in Florida?

Aw, was that a nice post? Of course not. You know the Gang of Six is down to Three.  (Jun 12, 2015 | post #506)

I really do not understand ... But I am a Villager and on TOTV - and I like to socialize with friends (both old and new) at restaurants, some bars, and at each others homes. Good conversation, a card game, a board game are all enjoyable. Some of the friends are very liberal concerning politics and some are centrist Republicans. Good conversations about politics. A few drams of Johnny Walker Black makes the conversations even better!  (Jun 6, 2015 | post #1159)

I totally agree that Bonny is a wonderful person. She is friendly and will tell you about almost any bar or restaurant in town. She is a good person to know.  (Jun 5, 2015 | post #1154)

Totv political forum

I have never met Rubicon but his posts, although conservative to the point of reactionary, are well thought out and shows that he puts thought into them. I do not see any hatred in his posts ever. Daryl had a strange screen name I cannot remember but he would argue illogically and most likely because he hated the idea of a black person in charge of the country. As for the Political forum now, it is worthless. Just personal name calling, snide remarks, and not the possibility of actual discussion. I still read it but do not waste electrons to post on it. As for this forum, it would be great if the sewer talk could go away and use the forum in a positive manner.  (Jun 3, 2015 | post #133)

No, Kitty was not in the Gang of Six. I know nothing about her. Graciegirl was never part of the Gang of Six. She is a very nice lady with a great family. Richielion, Rubicon, Billthekid, Bucco, Collogal, and some guy named Daryl from Tennessee were the Gang of Six. They loved to over power any liberal postings with their mean replies. In person, Richielion is a really fun guy to hang around with, play golf with and have a few drinks at City Fire.  (Jun 2, 2015 | post #131)

Gay marriage

There is a huge difference between being gay and being transgender. Gay means you are sexually attracted to others of your own sex. Transgender is being the wrong assigned biological sex. Both are complicated. Very, very doubtful if you would ever find a gay couple where one wants to have a gender change operation. I do agree that gay marriage should be legal in all states and they should have equal protection as married straight couples.  (May 28, 2015 | post #18)

Hi friends

I don't know about great paying jobs but people would have to have a good paying job in order to live here. Look at the Daily Sun and you can see how many Villagers do volunteer for all kinds of ways to help those who need some kind of assistance.  (May 26, 2015 | post #54)

Hi friends

Would you tell that to someone who asked you face to face? I am quite sure that (if you are an adult) you would engage the person in some pleasant conversation. I have been asked those things just about every time I meet someone and have met people who know others I know, have lived in some of the same places, or had extremely interesting careers. Never have I heard anyone get angry or call someone stupid or boring when making initial conversation.  (May 25, 2015 | post #49)

Annie's Mailbox: Be more tolerant of neighbors

Dang, I would feel that way if Big Red and Lucy showed up at a beer drinking session before we all went to Lake Sumter Landing for another case of cheap Villages beer.  (Apr 12, 2015 | post #1)

Big Red has returned home.

I saw Big Red with Lucy a few days ago and from how they were carrying on, it probably would not surprise me if she gets knocked up again. She is not a legal Florida resident (she speaks absolutely no English and has not made any attempt to learn) but will most likely depend on handouts like Red does for survival. Lucy is very nice looking but no morals - in my opinion.  (Mar 25, 2015 | post #15)

Big Red has returned home.

Big Red is a dude that comes and goes as he wants. No visible means of support but Villager2 has actually given him handouts and introduced him to a couple of ladies. One was Lucy, who Big Red had an affair with and impregnated her. Like Villager2 said, Big Red was missing without a word for 3 months without a word and now is back. He claims he was working in a Texas slaughterhouse but most likely was in jail.  (Mar 15, 2015 | post #4)
