So we never forget, story of atomic bomb must be told

I believe all history should be remembered, not just individual events but how they pertain to history as a whole. Some other World War Two events come to mind: The bombing of Pearl Harbor, The Japanese rape and massacre of Nanjing (300,000 Chinese People Killed, 20,000 Women Raped ), The Batann death March, The Japanese Biological Warfare Experiments 1932-45, The Sexual Slavery of Women Civilians by the Japanese Military During World War two, etc., etc., etc. I Wonder: Why are Japanese war crimes during and before World War two not as emphasized (or as well known) as are German War Crimes of the same time period?  (Aug 15, 2008 | post #34)

Beavers gets life for Ling murder

I appreciate the ACT's good coverage of this high profile, local trial. I believe the ACT was fair to both sides in this case. With 24 hour cable TV news, radio news and internet news - I have plenty of sources for national & international news. As a resident of Asheville, I subscribe to the ACT for local news. The more local, in-depth news the ACT includes in it's pages, the better I like it. Please give Asheville MORE local news.  (Sep 19, 2007 | post #5)

Trial starts in doctor's slaying

In response to MARTHA MCKINNEY'S letter I see nothing but loss, grief & sorrow in this court case. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to both the Ling and Beavers families & friends in this time of tragedy. I also want to say to Martha Mckinney that I'm so sorry to hear of the your loss of your mother. I can feel the grief and pain in your letter and I hope one day you will heal. It is possible for a doctor to can make all the right decisions, administer the correct treatments and the patient still dies. Doctors are not perfect, they're human, so it is also possible for a doctor to make a mistake that may result in the death of a patient. After what Mr. Beavers did, I believe him to be mentally ill and a danger to society. In my opinion, he should never be allowed to have his freedom. I think he should spend the rest of his life in jail. I believe that Martha McKinney has a right to her feelings and opinions. Whether I agree or disagree with her has nothing to do with it. I do applaud Ms McKinney for standing behind what she said by posting her comment with her name and address.  (Sep 13, 2007 | post #8)
