May I interject? I think you're both arguing about something that doesn't really need to be argued about. From what I understand about your argument, you're talking about how the other person isn't "Zen" or that they're full of themselves for insulting you and defending themselves. And if you either of you actually were philosophers, or zen masters, than I'd understand. But seeing as how you're both probably just random people, arguing on an obscure forum over the internet, who will likely never actually meet in real life, this argument is pointless. Just saying. (Aug 20, 2012 | post #83)
This also kind of implies that we're watching the subs on mute. Just saying. (Aug 19, 2012 | post #77)
Voice actors do more than just read the words and hence a dubbed version gives the viewer more than that which sub titles offer." This is only true if the english actors manage to get it right (which they rarely do) whereas a lot of people who watch subs don't even need to know what they're saying in order to know what kind of emotion or feeling is in the scene, because the way the character says it. Thanks for the help. Hopefully my name will change soon. (Feb 16, 2012 | post #64)
On an unrelated note, is it possible to change my name from pokemaster? I'm no longer obsessed with it, since I traded my DS in. (Feb 15, 2012 | post #62)
Or, once again, I can read and watch at the same time, so it doesn't matter to me (notice, I'm talking about my opinion, not saying that they are or aren't good.) Plus, I always get hung up on the voices for the Dubbed versions, which distracts me more than subs would. (Feb 14, 2012 | post #60)
Um, actually yes... I did. The key words were "At the same time" which implies that I can both watch what's happening and read the subtitles at the same time. (Feb 14, 2012 | post #58)
Unless you're like me, and can read and watch at the same time. (Feb 13, 2012 | post #55)
I can agree with that. So why do I always write more than I need to? (Nov 16, 2011 | post #50)
There's a difference between a Japanese failing to speak good English, and an English show taking what is originally a Japanese show (A.K.A. Dubbing) and then failing to correctly pronounce the Japanese they leave in. The English show specifically hires people who would do well for the part, and should at least try to pronounce the names and other Japanese words left in the show. Whereas Japanese shows still focus on Japanese content, and therefore don't need to spend as much time focusing on correctly pronouncing the small amounts of English that appear. (Nov 15, 2011 | post #48)
I just want to tell you something. I consider myself smart. And I probably am smarter than many people in my school. But I honestly have to use a dictionary to understand half of the words you're using. So good job for either being an English major or just being really freaking smart. (Sep 14, 2011 | post #16)
Just making sure... I've never talked to anyone who speaks like that. Are you British? (Sep 14, 2011 | post #38)
I have no idea why I keep coming back to these threads... If I had to guess, it'd be because I like seeing idiots argue over something and make no sense. Am I one of those idiots? Yes. So yes, I argue and I can feel myself get annoyed when I fail to convince someone within 2 or 3 comments. And yes, I am hard-headed enough to keep trying, despite the fact that I will probably never convince anyone of anything (besides convincing them of the idea that my point of view is so obsurd that I must have some mental deficiency.) And finally, I have one last useless, sarcasm-infused comment to make. HAVE ANY OF YOU HEARD OF "I STATEMENTS?" I mean seriously people, learn to not write opinions as if they were fact. One of many examples by New Days that could use some work: "people saying subs are better than dubs are just morons." Please, I know this is your thread, but please, TRY not to insult people just because they have a different opinion than you do. If you can't do that, then at the very least, try to make your insults a bit more subtle. (Sep 13, 2011 | post #36)
Why, do you, keep using, commas, for every, one or two words, and only, use a period, at the very end of, the post? Anyway, now that I'm done being an ass... The reason they mispronounce words and names (usually with three or more syllables) is because while Japanese emphasizes the third syllable of a name (i.e SakuRa, NaruTo, KotoMi, TomoYo, etc.) while English speakers (especially my Dad)usually emphasize the middle syllable (i.e NaRuto, SaKura, etc.) (Sep 12, 2011 | post #33)
