Weekend May Tell Truckers' Strike Impact
What country ships the most oil into the united states? beleave it or not Canada does who do you think sets the price of oil per berrel? wall street oil speculators not the OPEC all OPEC does is set a limit on how much oil they are going to pump out of the ground. is the an oil shortage? actually there is not an oil shortage there is in fact an oil surplus in this country. what needs to be done is change the system to reflect reality. oil speculators do just that, speculate (guess what is going to happan in the world 6 months in advance). so what goes on in the middle east has nothing to do with the price of oil coming from Canada(Canada ships 60% of all the oil used in this country).oil speculating is a way outdated system dating back to the 50's and needs to be scrapped. and as for regulating the price of fuels, a temporary measure can be done until the stupididity in the market stabelizes. you may also want to ask yourself who pays those oil speculators? you'll find the answer real interesting (Tuesday Apr 22 | post #67)

The only way the oil companies will lose on a price freeze is if oil prices drop massively, even if oil were to drop to $80.00 per barrel, they would still be making money. after all they were still making a truckload of money when oil was at $70.00 per barrel. so please explain how there would be a loss to the oil industry (Monday Apr 21 | post #57)

If they come here legally and became american citizens, then I have no problem with them. even if they are in the country with a valid work visa, again I have no problem with it. you sneak across the border like roaches, then they need to ship thier asses out of the country (Apr 9, 2008 | post #72)
Mexican Trucks Roll Today - Say Goodbye To Your Safety, Securit...
Man thats a weak ass long stretch, to try compare what happaned to the indians, and the illegal aliens entering this country are two totally diffrent things. if thats the best arguement you can try to come up with, you should have never typed. and as for pickups and deliveries, I've loaded out out of the port 9 times this week, and as soon as they get this container loaded I'll be back in the port again. I am glad I did park it, I have already signed new contracts with 3 of my major accounts, 4 of the smaller accounts have already agreed and are waiting for me to deliver the new contracts. the new rate and the sliding scale fuel surcharge, is going to be a great benefit to both sides. but thanks for asking sweetpea (Apr 9, 2008 | post #70)

The diffrence between then and now? easy my family came here legally, notice that word legally. my grand parents, became legal American Citizens, wow what a concept come here legally. we did not sneak across the border illegally, they didn't refuse to adapt to society, they did not refuse to learn the language. they did not work illegally and refuse to pay yearly income taxes. they did not pumpout kids like pez so they can use them as anchor babies.......but hey other then that no diffrence. and by the way I am proud to be Irish. But as for the actual topic, you know, what this thread is suspose to be about. pay close attn to what was written, the two companies listed were suspose to be model companies that the program was using as thier dog and pony show. look at D.O.T.'S own failure and out of service rates for those companies, any American company that had that many major violations would have thier dicks nailed to a board untill D.O.T. did a total company safety records audit. but Bush is Illegally pushing and forcing this program forward, even after congress cut off all funding and ordered that no funding be pulled from other programs to finance it. but Bush still is illegally running the program. that grasshopper is the problem (Apr 8, 2008 | post #61)

If you think trains are taking over, your smoking some good crack. and the only reason the stock went up is because "Warren Buffett's investment company may boost its stake in Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp to 25 percent of the nation's second-largest railroad, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission." thats the reason, not because they have done anything else (Apr 8, 2008 | post #19)

Court cuts truckers' hours spent on road
Ok with point 1: the problem with all trucks staying in the right hand lane, which side does ALL the traffic merge in on? if all trucks stay in the right lane would there not me a massive increase of accidents especially for those who do not know how to merge safely on the highway? and oh yes there are awhole lot of drivers that do not know how, both car and truck drivers. point 2 do you realise the size of a rail yard that would have to be built to to handle a metropolitin area like the NYC/Newark city area? along with the huge track layout that would have to be built, you will need to build warehousing for both dry and refrigerated goods. then theres the issue of companies like Walmart/target/foo dlion and a houndred other companies will want to build thier own warehouses to store stuff for thier stores. point 3: you say to put it into smaller trucks to save fuel. it will take 3 straight trucks to deliver what 1 tractor trailer can deliver. lets see three trucks equal 3 times as many veichles in an already congested area, 3 times the pollution, three drivers to pay, three veichles to pay mainence on, and as for fuel saving? there will be none, you will actually use more fuel, 3 trucks 3 times the fuel. one final thing you need to think about, where are the billions of dollars going to come from to build these massive rail yards? the railroads can't affod to build them. so that means the federal govt. is going to have to foot the bill. and wait where does the federal govt get the money to pay for such programs? yes my friend the tax payer, you may remember them, they are the ones paying out the ass for the high cost of groceries because of all the extra saleries that the companies are paying for all the extra trucks and drivers so they can deliver products in smaller trucks. yep I agree you have a great plan there (Apr 3, 2008 | post #87)
