Gay marriage ruling prompts move against Iowa justices

Doesn't matter. They can't change what our state Supreme Court said.  (Aug 6, 2010 | post #7)

Judge overturns California gay marriage ban

Today is a good day. It'll be even better when the Supreme Court rules the same for the entire country!  (Aug 4, 2010 | post #4)

Prop 8 unconstitutional: Ballot measure overturned

Of course they will appeal, but you know what? I'm fine with that. It will go to the Supreme Court and it'll be settled once and for all. Loving vs. Virginia, Iowa's Supreme Court case and this ruling make it very hard for the Supreme Court to rule against the precedents. Finally it will go to the Supreme Court, and they will rule in favor of EQUALITY. And no longer will we have to listen to the politicians use gay marriage as a tactic to instigate fearful votes in the small-minded.  (Aug 4, 2010 | post #5)

Banning gay marriage would boost economic growth, activis...

And banning slavery back in 1861 also was "hard on the economy" boohoohoo. Oh and, just for the record, Iowa has had a ton of marriages since we legalized gay marriage, and two new wedding-related businesses in my town alone (that i am aware of) have opened. I don't have the exact figure on hand, but it was estimated that Iowa earned 5-10million in travel tourism from gay marriage alone. Bad for the economy? Lolno. One, it's not true. Sorry, look at Iowa. Kthxbai. Two, money shouldn't be a consideration in freedom. Three, by this logic, banning divorce would actually be much more economically viable.  (Aug 3, 2010 | post #14)

Study: More Than 70 Countries Make Being Gay A Crime

Yes, some other countries are worse. This article is kinda worthless since it didn't have the list of countries anywhere. http://en.wikipedi ghts_by_country_or _territory Interesting how being gay is illegal and punishable by death in the parts of the world dominated by religious law. Same parts of the world where female genital mutilation is common, and 9 year old girls can be married off to 50 year olds with 5 wives already. Interesting that that part of the world abhors the condom on religious grounds and has the highest rate of AIDS and teenage pregnancy and rape. Yes, we should strive to make America a beacon of human rights. If not for other countries to follow suit, then for refugees to find a safe place to call home, as we all deserve.  (Aug 1, 2010 | post #2)

Gay Couples Vulnerable to HIV When Monogamy Is Unsure

This is stupid. When monogamy is unsure, anyone is at risk.  (Jul 16, 2010 | post #9)

The View Comes Under Fire for Comments About Black Men, H...

Actually, your inference is not at all the truth. ALL OF THOSE FACTORS CONTRIBUTE. That's why they are ALL listed. Unprotected sex (1 & 3) may lead to HIV. PERIOD! It says absolutely nowhere in that list from the CDC that gay men are responsible for AIDS in women. That is a correlation that YOU invented due to your own beliefs. You could just as easily assume from that list that: Heterosexual unprotected sex is infecting gay men. Heterosexual unprotected sex is infecting drug users. Heterosexual unprotected sex is infecting gay men who are infecting drug users. Heterosexual unprotected sex is infecting drug users who are infecting gay men. Drug users are infecting heterosexuals. Drug users are infecting gay men. Drug users are infecting heterosexuals who are infecting gay men. Drug users are infecting gay men who are infecting heterosexuals. The CDC disease vectors do not assess blame. They only list causes. Any unprotected sex involving a man, ANY UNPROTECTED SEX, has the risk of transmitting STDS.  (Jul 13, 2010 | post #50)

Actor Mark Ruffalo says goodbye to 'old' and 'bigoted' vi...

Kids really don't care, it's true. The older children might say things they've heard adults utter, but they usually don't even know what it means. Same thing for "interracial " couples. Kids learn that hate from their parents, teens and tv/movies.  (Jul 12, 2010 | post #1)

The View Comes Under Fire for Comments About Black Men, H...

I saw part of this episode by complete accident in the doctor's waiting room, and was horrified. Not only because I accidentally caught part of the View, but because of what the woman (Sherry?) said. Absolutely ignorant and hateful to the core. She perpetuates idiocy. I know Whoopi is an ally, and it was too bad she wasn't on the show to set the record right. Even so, they need to address this. What Sherry in particular said is hurtful, hateful, and reinforces bigoted minds.  (Jul 12, 2010 | post #7)

If gays can't marry in N.Y., official won't either

I know a couple straights (and bisexuals in hetero relationships) my age 25-35 who are doing this. My sister has been in a relationship with her boyfriend as a non-married couple for almost 8 years, but while they have been committed, they refuse to be married until marriage is equal and legal everywhere in the States. They don't care if that means they will never marry. They do go to gay marriage rallies and pride events to support the cause, but they know it will be a long fight, but we know it's worth it.  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #1)

DADT survey wording draws fire from some gays

Replace instances of "gay/lesbian or homosexual" with black/hispanic/lat ino/native american/asian/wha tever. Is it insulting? Is it completely derogatory? Is it borderline abusive? Does it perpetuate an atmosphere of hate and fear? THEN IT IS WRONG. This is f-ing ridiculous.  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #1)

Legal Group: Gays shouldn't answer Pentagon survey

I wonder if they sent out similar surveys when they were considering allowing whites and non-whites to serve together in the same military unit. The survey's existence alone is insulting. The rights of the few should not be based on the random questionnaire results of the majority.  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #2)
