Social Security plan could hurt the poor

The "cat food for seniors" deficit commission is just that, a commission. Congress will have the responsibility to look at the reports of this commission besides another bazillion commissions advising Congress in order to act to keep the U.S.A. as a strong and healthy nation. Changing Social Security insurance from a defined benefit to a defined contribution would require recipients to increase their copays and endure less care such as outpatient physical therapy etc. which is being planned now by Medicare. Hospital admission for medical conditions is decreasing. If your doctor plans to admit you to a hospital, your medical condition is really serious and needs your cooperation to get healthy enough to stay alive. Stay healthy, keep your parents and grandparents healthy so that we have a strong healthy U.S.A. Did you want to invite your parents and grandparents to live with you and let you pay for their medical care, despite the years they paid Social Security insurance for their retirement care?  (Nov 22, 2010 | post #13)

Barbara's experience with two terms of Chewelah City Council Representative, her advocacy for reasonable affordable services in the 7th LD from State and Federal government, her advocacy for support of the family as the basis of our community, her stand for relative rights established by State Staute, when a child's parents can no longer care for the child, her willingness to travel to meet all constituents in all of the 12,000 miles of the 7th LD, her innovative outreach to the residents of the 7th LD will bring change to representation for people, commerce, transportation, employment, agriculture, forestry!  (Oct 15, 2010 | post #1)

Constituents want more than emails from a Congressional representative. A real representative provides town hall meetings in all parts of the district. Congressional aides are visible in all parts of the congressional community available for all constituents.  (Oct 15, 2010 | post #2)

Deer Park awards H Street project to Inland Asphalt

The Deer Park, WA construction of H Street needs immediate improvement for safer community access to the community services and businesses affected. I have been told by a city employee that there will be continuous access to all of the businesses during construction. Better access to local businesses needs to happen right now to prevent more business loss, more city and county revenue loss, and discouragement of resident and visitor use of community businesses and services in this area. Immediately paving the US Hwy 395 entrance to H Street will increase safety to those entering and leaving this busy highway. Patrons need safe access with better lane marking to use the Espresso drive-through, Urgent Care Center, the Deer Park Eye Clinic, Standen Insurance, Deer Park Physical Therapy, Eggers Meat Market, Ace Hardware, Pizza Factory, the hair stylist, the tattoo salon, the Windemere realtor and the U-Haul business. The recent decision to close Rosauer's Deer Park supermarket located at H Street is more of a loss to the Deer Park community than just a source of great groceries. The excellent services managed by Mike Kerbs and his team included a great Rose's diner, good food, and cheerful work with contributions of wonderful community service. We need safe real access with less business loss and less dust!  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #1)

Bellevue man killed in Highway 395 collision August 19, 2010

North of Spokane, US Hwy 395 needs to be expanded to four lanes with a median at least to west of Kettle Falls, and then to the Canadian border. The number of fatal accidents seemed to decrease between Spokane and the Tri-Cities when US Hwy 395 was re-built as a four lane highway south of Spokane. Governor Gary Locke's Blue Ribbon Highway Commission proposed improving US Hwy 395 to the Canadian Border to improve highway safety and to support business traffic in Eastern Washington. www.researchcounci /GovTransBudgetBlu eRibbonRec.pdf  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #1)

Habitat Homeowner Recruitment Meeting

This Monday's Habitat for Humanity's opportunity for the diverse residents in the Deer Park Washington Area who want to own their own home is wonderful. This small community has great services, pedestrian-friendl y access, and fun events. I have told two friends that I would volunteer to help if their applications are accepted. The challenge to plan, purchase, build, and maintain one's own home is an education in itself. The city elected officials continue to debate the merits of the project approved by the city planning department. New businesses in Deer Park have employees wanting to purchase affordable adequate housing which is quieter than the apartments which they are renting.  (Apr 12, 2009 | post #2)

Horizons Deer Park Washington Community Project

Horizons Deer Park Community now has a website: http://deerpark-wa There are three active commitees: community information, community kiosk, and youth activities. The farmers'market committee is on hold. What would you suggest for a community kiosk? I think we need several: a log-framed deer-enhanced information kiosk along US Hwy 395, an indoor one at City Hall on East Crawford which could be electronic, and another at each of the parks and an internet kiosk.  (Feb 1, 2009 | post #1)
