Police briefs

It's nice to note that The Herald is publishing the names of the suspects...perhaps a bit of "public shame" will deter others from possessing/selling /being under the influence of illegal substances.  (Feb 12, 2010 | post #4)

Pacific Grove mayor reflects on past year in State of the...

You've got to give the new Pacific Grove mayor credit for her positive attitude in regards to a city in disrepair. Hopefully, Ms. Garcia will be able to turn things around in the "good ol' boy" town by stimulating new business and fixing the existing problems. P.G. was once a lovely town but it's in desperate need of a face lift.  (Feb 2, 2010 | post #3)

Giant squid invade Calif. waters, entice anglers

IF your statement is indeed factual, I assume it's not correct to say someone "riding the short bus" has the IQ of a squid.... The next time I'm indulging in calamari at one of our local restaurants, I'll remember that I'm ingesting an intelligent creature.  (Feb 1, 2010 | post #6)

Is the Monterey Peninsula still facing potential water rationing this spring/summer, even after ALL the rain? It would be interesting to know what CAL-AM has to say about the situation...  (Jan 23, 2010 | post #2)

CHP arrests driver, hunts for passenger in Pebble Beach c...

Perhaps if the parents were more concerned/caring about their child, this ridiculous incident would NEVER have occurred. Again, I ask the question "why was an 18 year old minor driving around Pebble Beach (with a teenage passenger) at 2:50 AM intoxicated and apparently speeding"??? Where were the parents? I hope the kids were SCARED TO DEATH and learned a lesson about taking responsibility for their actions. This story has little to do with my tax dollars being wasted on searching for a young man and everything to do with parents being decent role models for their children.  (Dec 23, 2009 | post #12)

LOL! Is "brat boy's" Daddy (presumably Richard Yant III) a wealthy big-wig in P.G. or Pebble Beach? Fortunately, I'm not familiar with the name, even though I've lived on the Peninsula for 45 years. Another Ron Pollaci????  (Dec 22, 2009 | post #7)

WHY was an 18-year old kid out driving around Pebble Beach at 2:50 AM in a new 2009 Hyundai Sonata with another minor as a passenger? WHERE was Richard Yant III (presumably the father) when he allowed his son out so late/early? Both deserve to be arrested.  (Dec 22, 2009 | post #3)

FBI agents raid home of radio host Barbara Alexander

Perhaps Ms. Alexander connected one too many dots leading directly to her own personal bank account?  (Dec 19, 2009 | post #4)

Scam of the Month: Ponzi scheme thrives on victim's greed

You have to feel empathy for anyone caught up in a Ponzi scam...up to a point. However, the old adage "there is no such thing as a free lunch" should make an individual wary about any venture that promises a large payoff without any risk involved. The elderly are so vulnerable to this sort of scheme. Anyone who preys on them should be penalized to the full extent of the law.  (Dec 14, 2009 | post #4)

Now for the hard questions

My worst habit? Reading your column, Joy. I'm considering joining a self-help group to help wean me from it.  (Dec 13, 2009 | post #4)
