Destinee: Romance Novella

Hi all, It's been forever and a day since I have posted regularly on Topix. I recently published a short story that I would love for people who are readers to check out. It's about a shy, traditional minded black professional who has old fashioned views on life and love-but when she meets Edward her life is turned upside. Does she hold fast her convictions or fall under his spell. http://www.amazon. com/s/ref=nb_sb_no ss_1?url=search-al ias%3Daps&fiel d-keywords=lisa+wa rir For those who don't like to click links-you can go to Amazon.com and type in Destinee romance novella.  (Feb 10, 2015 | post #1)

Why do africans come here and think they are better than ...

Do you really want a truthful answer to this, or do you want someone to sugarcoat it? I have friends from africa-this coming from ppl i've known over the years, unfortunately they get a lot of their info from the media and THEN they get first hand knowledge from some in our communities who choose to be the stereotype(s). Some have told me that they feel that a lot of black american's don't apply themselves when it comes to school, and some don't understand the whole rap/pants hanging from butt phenom either. They tend to be family/mom/dad/hus band/wife oriented and don't understand the whole baby mam/daddy foolishness. They are also more likely to acclimate into white culture, or they stick solely to their own culture. Many may come from a $hithole as you call it, but then they come here and in a matter of years can surpass many blacks (education wise, financially and socially)who have been here for generations.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #31)

Michael Baisden told BW to Ask, Pay for Dates with BM! lmao

Ditto. My husband pursued me, most women I know their husbands pursued them. I know of a couple of women who pursued their men and those relationships didn't work out in the long run, simply a coincidence i'm sure, I know a man can pursue you and the relationship still fizzle. I also think it puts the ball in the man's court, and I think whether men admit it or not, I think they feel the woman is desperate, or that he is ALL THAT!!  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #28)

Baisden is an idiot. I use to listen to him regularly, and I caught the show you are talking about, I flipped the station after only a few minutes. Any woman who wants to chase after a man is desperate imo. Michael needs to stop with the relationship advice, or better yet, women need to stop listening to it. He is all about hedonism and other foul stuff, but then wants to talk about the decline of relationships out the other side of his big mouth.  (Oct 4, 2012 | post #27)

Fathers are very powerful.

Ok I will get sucked in. I'm not new around these parts, just chose to leave this site alone for a while. As a girl who grew up without a father, I can say that a strong loving male figure (preferably the bio father) during the formative years of both females and males is very important. I have a problem with women who try to downplay the importance of a dad in their kids lives because she is mad at the man she chose to lay up with. I am one of the only ppl in my whole family who grew up without a dad-and I can see a difference between women who had a loving dad in the home vs no dad or a distant father. Society at large is trying to downplay how important a dad is in the home. Children aren't stupid though, i'm sure if you ask a child who hasn't been poisoned by a bitter mother if they want their dad they'd say yes. If women valued themselves more a lot of these fatherless homes would desist. A woman who commands respect for herself gets respect and honor from men. This is a concept that is lost in our community.  (Sep 29, 2012 | post #523)

I'm leaving Topix forever!

I understand. I use to be a regular here, now I mostly come and lurk. Too much foolishness, plus I don't like the fact that ppl can have so many different screen names.  (Sep 3, 2011 | post #5)

Ladies What is it about a Man in uniform?...

Men in uniform are very sexy. I think it's a combination of self control and authority the reasons are endless. Plus they just look darn good in them, and on a sidenote, it's hella sexy, imagining him taking if off (if he has a nice body that is)  (Aug 13, 2011 | post #4)

My 7 year old niece touches me is this normal???

You know what?? not cool, not cool at all. I'm beginning to think you're getting some sort of sick pleasure out of this. This shouldn't even be in your thought process if you really are indeed concerned about the wellbeing of this child. You sound like this man on another site asking if it was ok for him to get naked in the bathtub with his 5 y/o old. This post of yours right here, just spoke volumes about you.  (Aug 13, 2011 | post #57)
