PRO PROP. 8: Take a stand against court dictatorship

Termpest in a teapot. The founding fathers were concernd about the balance of powers all right, but they'd be horrified at how the majority is not only actively creating a tyranny of oppression over the minority, but that the majority wants to override the balance of powers by taking away the ability of the judiciary to bring the legislative branch back into check. It's the mob tasking the legislative branch to strip the minority of their inalienablr rights that started the whole thing rolling again. The courts are simply acting to balance out the rights of gays and str8's equally. All that you have to do to realize that the majority will never recognize the rights of the minority is to look at the past. This country has a long list of issues that would have never passed muster in the legislature, or popular vote, but that does not lesson the validity of those innate and inalienable rights. People on the side of H8 keep ranting about their democracy, but if they knew anything about history at all, they'd realize that the only thing between them and a totalitarian government presently is those courts. Sometimes the courts need to remind us just how much like spoiled children we can all be. But this is not the playground, and we are not fighting over who was in line first. One of the tenets of our form of government, is that at times, the right thing is often not the most popular thing. But it is those unpopular causes that keep us all free and equal.  (Nov 25, 2008 | post #755)

Dr. Phil's Debate on Prop. 8 - The Blow by Blow Coverage

"The best way to study a society is to study its popular culture." This is america chum, we don't have any culture, OK? Phil = Springer = Daily News, etc, etc. It's all completely stupid and worthless.  (Nov 24, 2008 | post #26)

Citigroup to get $306 Billion Bailout

We are stupid people. In any other country, those guys would be hanging from a rope right about now. WTF? I'm surprised the average guy in the treet hasn't blown up any more towers of the rich and famous on Wall Street. This is just crazy stuff. Paulsen has a blank check for up to another 350 billion to spend as he sees fit. The only people getting money are the one's that created the mess in the first place. How many people could have kept paying their mortgages if they bought the bad mortgages directly, and renegotiated the rates back down? We can't give a bridge loan to the US automakers to keep the doors open until January, but we can throw money at a bank that has already shown they can't manage their money. It's another case of this administration doing it's best to finish raping the american taxpayer before Obama and his crew take over. What a load of phooey!  (Nov 24, 2008 | post #114)

History will vindicate her husband? ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! Oh, that IS rich. History will crucify her husband. "W" was THE epitomy of everything a president should NOT be. He is and will always be the lowest of the low. ANY other person taking office from this point on will be a better president, because Bush is the vilage idiot. I sure hope someone heads down to Crawford after he is done and gone and takes him out for all those war crimes he enabled. I would celebrate that day.  (Nov 24, 2008 | post #34310)

How long do Native Americans get a free ride

I smile everytime I see a new casino going in somewhere. It's poetic justice that as the white devil used alcohol to debilitate and deconstruct the native american, so to now does the native american reap monetary reward at the expense of the weakness of whites for gambling. I love the irony. Native Americans should get free everything in my opinion, because they got screwed out of everything, and european disease almost wiped them out. It's justice.  (Nov 21, 2008 | post #1267)

The Gay Animal Kingdom

All of this brouhaha about homosexuality will be passe within a generation or two. Homosexuality is as natural for homosexuals as heterosexuality is natuarl for heterosexuals. And the vast majority of humans fall into the middle, not on either end. When your children or your children's children are able to escape the taboo and shame now placed on homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality, they will do as they please with no guilt or remorse. The prohibitions are societal, and actually, very unnatural. In the future, children will again be raised by a fostering village, rather than a couple acting singly in the best interest of the child. When we were children, the women of our towns and city neighborhoods all worked to raise the kids in that area. The isolationist tendencies toward raising children outside of a community is powered by the nuclear family, and the increasing fences that keep neighbors from even acknowledging one another. This will also change. Humans are sexual creatures, and eventually, as we move away from religious dogma and prohibitions, children whether homosexual or heterosexual will be valued simply for being part of their community. Nobody thought that a century ago that people of varying races would ever get along, and yet here we are now, in a global community, intermarrying and producing offspring together. So too shall it be for sexual diversity. By the middle of this century, no one will think twice about what sexuality one embodies, or what sex one's partner happens to be. Evolution: adapt or perish. Soemthing tells me that fundamentalist religious zealots and their separatist practices won't be around much longer. It goes against survival of the species.  (Nov 21, 2008 | post #67)

Homophobia in the Trans-kingdom

I just finished reading one of several papers I was steered toward by a friend. Some by Dreger, some by Bailey, and some by Lawrwence. There seems to be a universal agreement on assimilationism as being the only "normal" path in life amongst the three of them. And I can't shake a deep-rooted feeling that there is more than a smidgeon of homophobia included in their little cabal. Ironically, by breaking down the trans-community into homosexual and non-homosexual, they then go one to infer that only homosexual TS are "normal, " and that any people that don't or cannot feel comfortable assimilating into traditional patterns of female behavior are shall we say, less than perfect. I believe autogynephilic is the term. If anything they seem to mirror the practices seen in the mddle east and other areas of the world, where trassexualism is seen as a cure for homosexuality. It seems that none of the three of them have any exposure to, or experience with the lesbian world, or even to the feminist world. Any idea as to the political leanings, or religious followings of these individuals? I was not really aware of them until now, per se, but I see them as potentially a great threat to the homosexual community at large. Anybody else want to weigh in on this?  (Nov 21, 2008 | post #1)

Church, state collide at gay-marriage corner

Some ignorant Str8 men are terrified of same sex marriage because they are afraid that gays and lesbians will be proved to be better and more faithful marriage partners, and better and more dependable parents than they are. Once that is established, they have no one to blame but themselves for the sad state of heterosexual marriage. They also know that once same sex coulping loses it's strigma, that many more men and women that now live a lie, or get it on the down low, will be free to come out and live as a gay man or lesbian. That will reduce the women partners possibly available to them. Some of those guys might end up partnerless, or forced to consider indulging their own homoerotic urges to get a sex partner. They are attempting to control people for their own benefit. They want to maintain the status quo, because in a world where people get to actually choose a partner, and are not steered or frightened into a heterosexual mariiage some of them might not get chosen at all. And based on the hate I've seen expressed toward us, I've no doubt some of those guys deserve to be left behind. The rest of us are evolving.  (Nov 21, 2008 | post #266)

Hillary Clinton to accept Barack Obama's offer of secreta...

Wow! So sad to see her give up on her Presidential aspirations, but I think something else might be up here too. What do you wanna bet, that after serving for either his first or second term as Madam Secretary, he appoints her to the Supreme Court? Oh boy, am I waiting forward to that day.  (Nov 21, 2008 | post #595)

Are True christians:

I would think that based on the theology, the only people that could claim to be "true" christians would be those chosen by christ. Seeing as how almost none of the people that claim to be christians follow the teachings of christ, and even fewer actually adhere to the teachings, I'd say the chance of there being more than a handful of people that are "true Christians" to be rather low. There was no answer for me on the poll to choose. I'm not even sure any "real christians" exist in today's world.  (Nov 20, 2008 | post #275)
