The first time I found out my kid snuck out life would be over for them. Locks on their bedroom doors at night. Alarms on their window. No car, no friends, end of story. Parents don't punish their kids even when they find out they do stuff like this. So yes they are to blame when their kids end up dead or when they hurt other people. The line "oh you were a teenager" is crap. I NEVER snuck out, took my parents car, and joy rode around at 2 a.m. Why? Because I was a respectful teen who never thought I couldn't die.
