Home-run apple's disappearing act adds to Mets' weird first half

i agree. and i think it is too bad that so many fair-weather-fans have become so cynical and so ready to dismiss the team and cast that stone. i am proud to say that i am a staunch met supporter and know that teams have their ups and downs. to those of you who are so wise and talented, get your butts out there and see how well YOU can play this game. it's frustrating, yes, but jeez, stop bitching and go find something else to do besides criticizing every little facet of the world that is baseball.  (Jul 13, 2009 | post #22)

Mets trade OF Church to Braves for OF Francoeur

i am surprised and sorry to see ryan church go. and hopefully jeff francoeur will help the team. HOWEVER, i am not happy with jerry manuel's too-laid-back attitude, as if he has nothing to do with what the mets accomplish - or not accomplish. and i am not happy with omar minaya's inaction (and this far into the season) at filling the holes left by three big players. that should have been looked at ages ago. one more thing: i have been wondering about the training staff - how do injuries like the ones sustained by three important players happen? is there not a stringent training policy - meaning preventive treatment? i would think that team's trainers should be working more diligently and be careful NOT to let these guys get so badly hurt that they're out for so long. i know sometimes one cannot avoid it, but i think that angle should be taken into consideration. these players are valuable commodities that should be handled with great care!  (Jul 10, 2009 | post #12)
