Obama blasts Supreme Court campaign finance ruling

Be that as it may, the unfortunate downstream effect will be greater corporate meddling in the political system. Unfortunately, the Constitution is quite nebulous in this area which is why both this current decision and First Nat. Bank of Boston v. Bellotti (which set the precedent for granting free speech rights to corporations) were decided on 5-4 splits so this is obviously an issue of some contention.  (Jan 23, 2010 | post #109)

Obama blasts Supreme Court campaign finance ruling

In what aspect does the corporate finance of political candidates have to do with 1st Amendment Rights? I would think that allowing companies to spend unlimited amounts of money on political candidates would be akin to legalized bribery; unfortunately it seems that the power of Washington lobbyists will not be decreasing anytime soon.  (Jan 23, 2010 | post #100)

Supreme Court ends limits on corporate campaign spending

What in the world was the Supreme Court’s reasoning behind this decision, and what, for that matter does restricted / unrestricted campaign contribution by corporations have to do with free speech? Now that corporations can buy candidates without restriction I find it difficult to believe that this is a good decision for American democracy.  (Jan 22, 2010 | post #7)

U.S. Army Officer Calls Obama an "Impostor"

Citing NewsWithViews as a source is about the same as citing the Huffington Post; you shouldn't even bother wasting your time. If you made something up yourself it would probably be more believable then something coming from those "newspapers ".  (Sep 9, 2009 | post #11098)

African-American

from a white guy to black people, don't blame me.

Perhaps if we (as a society) would spend less time blaming others (for everything, not just race issues) and more time fixing our own problems, we would be better off.  (Sep 8, 2009 | post #43)

Muslim pensioner on brink of death after race-hate attack

Considering that the article is from the DailyMail, I find that doubtful. Regardless of the race or religion of the victim and those involved this is nothing but a tragedy.  (Sep 8, 2009 | post #33)

4 US soldiers killed during Iraq cities pullout

Or maybe our President doesn't want our men and women in the military dying in that country when the Iraqis should be taking care of their own problems...So much for supporting our troops; lets support them by taking them out of situations they don't need to be in; if they must be in harm’s way then it should only be as a last resort and in the gravest of situations. Iraq is not one of those situations; if they can't already take care of themselves then they will either learn quickly or be destroyed. Yes our President is such a muslim...jeeze. You people use "Muslim" like an epithet, grow up.  (Jun 30, 2009 | post #17)

12:32 Child survivor of Yemenia air crash found in Indian...

Before you make an unfounded statement like the one above, perhaps you should read the article...the plane was owned, operated and maintained by Yemenia Air, an airline company from Yemen; this has nothing to do with France.  (Jun 30, 2009 | post #2)

Captain A, get over it! Obama won last November and that was 8 months ago yet you are still going on and on about Obama's race like a broken record. Obama won, he is African-American, get over it.  (Jun 29, 2009 | post #2)
