The Festival, the Weekend, the Weather...

So, what is really the forecast this weekend, not what the reports are calling for? Plan to come down Sat. & Sun or Sun. & Mon. Is the festival all three days? Thanks, Larry in Middletucky  (Aug 30, 2013 | post #1)

Does anyone want cash for old coins?

bradly, I have seen what you have, done in a science lab experiment. Somehow, the coins are hooked up to electric/magnetism in a solution and the images from the silver coin transfer onto the copper one. Cannot remember the exact procedure for doing this, as it has been many years since college science class. I also remember a similar experiment that would cover a copper penny with brass.  (Feb 10, 2013 | post #73)

Do youbelieve in God?

Yes, darwin fan, we do seem to have more in common. Most of these conversations are ridiculous, like it was at the beginning of this thread, with name calling and one-liners. So, I figure that is how most people are going to reply when I join in. It is always refreshing to engage with others such as yourself. There are personal beliefs and what one tries to instill upon one's household, but outside of that, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. I am not an intolerant Christian at all. I do not agree with what I believe to be a sin, but I do not alienate those in my family or group of friends that are living a totally different lifestyle that I would disapprove of for myself or my children. It is a shame what many do in the name of Jesus. They often give the "good" Christians a bad name.  (Feb 1, 2013 | post #25)

Do youbelieve in God?

Many try to make the Bible out as one big fairy tale, so at least the places can be proven against that statement is all I was pointing out there. If not creationism, then not the other theories either, taught in the schools, because they all are speculation and hearsay depending on each individual's views and beliefs. I taught school for 20 years and have been a Christian all of my life. I agree, religious practices or teachings should not be part of the pubic educational setting. I've a few reasons for this. To make it easy here, I am an evangelical Christian and raise my children under the same. I do not want the practices of a teacher who is Jewish, Islamic, or other major belief put upon them. Nor do I want those Christians of a different doctrinal belief shedding their light with them. There should be no problem with a moment of silence or student groups that wish to meet under their said religious beliefs. I do get tired of hearing that God has been taken out of the public schools. No He hasn't. No one has said these groups cannot meet. No one has said I cannot pray to myself, have a Bible in my room, nor read it to myself if I choose during a planning period, lunch, before or after school. Nor have those same personal rights been taken from students. Religion in the government. I don't know. We all have freedom of religion, but not from religion. So I take that as we still will see or view all practices and beliefs within our society. Government imposed - no we shouldn't. A nativity, menorah, or the ten commandments on display on city, county, or state property, I don't have a problem with it, but I do understand why some do. There are also differences of opinions on the basis of God within our constitution, laws, on our money, in state mottos, the beliefs of our founding fathers, and so on. I won't go into all of those, because I really don't have a sound argument one way or the other, and would actually contradict myself if I did. One last note, as Christians we are to spread the word of God, so yes, we do try to persuade others to believe in God. Neither of us can prove or disprove that God exists, I know that. Thanks for a respectable conversation.  (Feb 1, 2013 | post #23)

Do youbelieve in God?

darwin fan, And again, your proof? Faith does not kick in because someone needs a crutch, that is not what we Christians view God as. So, do any other explanations seem to be totally out of the range of reality? Big bang theory, evolution, cosmos, we all just happened? There is much proof available and sites that one can visit today that are from the Holy Bible. Many of the places written therein still exist today, regardless if you believe the religious aspects or not. A man who choses to not believe in an almighty and all knowing God, may find himself one day wishing he had. Again, my opinion and my belief.  (Jan 31, 2013 | post #21)

Do youbelieve in God?

Well Charlie, You may think it's bunk and that man made God, but I am very educated and know that you cannot prove your point anymore than I can prove mine. So, that's where faith kicks in and unless you seek forgiveness and salvation and live the Christian life, you will never know true "peace".  (Jan 31, 2013 | post #19)
