Interesting fact

I have been sick today, and have been chuckling over Topix here and abroad. I found many questions about tracing people who post. This is a synopsis of the best answere I could locate. I just posted it on about four other sites, so forgive if this is redundent. Hopefully I can get back to the Security Center tomorrow. Since Topix runs on its own servers, it is highly unlikely that the average layperson will be able to trace the IP addresses of the posters. Another thing that makes it even more unlikely that you will be able to track down who is posting about you is the fact that Topix does not require posters to register with a username, birth date and IP address. You simply type in an alias and post. You can change this on everything you post, if you like. Also, even though Topix will generate a random location in your area stating where you are based on the location of your internet service provider, simply resetting your router will generate a new location, making it seem as though more than one different person is doing the posting. Also, don’t assume that you can walk into any police station and they will get their best investigators on the case to find out who is posting about you. Unless there is threat of serious physical harm being done, chances are slim, mostly due to the plethora of cases reported. It is popping up in the mainstream news more and more that the postings on Topix are destroying people’s personal relationships and sometimes, their whole lives. There are cases in the legal system between individuals/state governments vs. Topix. It is widely suggested that Topix require users to register before posting, making it much harder for posters to veil their identities.  (May 29, 2012 | post #1)

Since Topix runs on its own servers, it is highly unlikely that the average layperson will be able to trace the IP addresses of the posters, also it requires a court order, which they have been all challenged by Topix and unless there is a chance of physical assult, the courts have denied access. Another thing that makes it even more unlikely that you will be able to track down who is posting about you is the fact that Topix does not require posters to register with a username, birth date and IP address. I would like to hear some positive things about Union Cou...

I am POSITIVE this is a mediocre school system...I am POSITIVE the middle school is a breeding ground for the demoralization of our youth...I am POITIVE the schools do not know how to handle the environmentally charged increase in mental issues...I am positive that students lack a rounded education...I am positive there is more emphasis on sports than needed....I am positive that if you honestly think the UCMS is Nirvana, you must have attended it yourself.  (May 19, 2012 | post #15)

Fight. Fight for your child. Get an advocate if you have to, but do not give up. There are organizations that facilitate parents with special needs kids to help them with school systems that are backwards, like UCCSD. There are organizations that will help you get started with homeschooling, if you want that. Personaly, i believe that you should not have to homeschool a child, but if the system will not help, then you may have to. Parents of children that are not being properly serviced should join forces and confront, not the school, but the school board. Get it in the news, put a fire under them. If they have to cut a sports program to finance a childs education, then so be it. Too many schools put sports ahead of education, AND THAT IS WRONG. I once lived in an area where the school did not facilitate any sports. If the parents wanted sports, they had to pay for the privilege. Yes, the pooer child may not have gotten to play a game, but he/she got an education. And that ladted a lifetime.  (Apr 30, 2012 | post #3)
