ello, everyone, I'm back online thanks to my new MacBook Air.What a great birthday present. I am so happy with my dental work. My personal dentist said that the quality of Dr. Kaver's work is as good as any she has ever seen!! And she has been a dentist for 30 years. I've received so many compliments from so many different people. I find myself smiling without reservation whereas before there was hesitation. Dr. Kaver's Work Has Changed My Life I have a picture I'd like to upload as soon as I figure out how.Oh yes, there is still no pain, no discomfort-no one can believe how easy it has been. If anyone is sitting on the edge, wondering if it is worth it- It Is! If I can answer any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!!  (Nov 1, 2013 | post #4818)

Hello everyone, Hollywood Watch Out. You have another person with a smile just as pretty as any one of yours. It's Me!!!!! Yes folks, All 28 teeth have been crowned and look terrific. It took a couple of sessions to get everything just right-and that's ok with me. Much preferable to rushing through a job is proceeding with caution. What an amazing difference this "dental makeover" made! Because I had ground down my teeth to such an extent, building them back up has made the chin more prominent, thus affecting the position of the lips. The chipped front teeth, the gaps, the uneven length, the color, shape, size and proportion of the teeth have all been fixed. What an amazing skill set is requires do do this kind of work! There is absolutely no pain. I did take Ibuprofen for 3 days at the beginning, but decided I really did not even need that. In the office with me today was a lady who received implants. She is extremely pleased with her results also. While did have minimal discomfort, it was controlled by medication. There are not enough praise and accolades I can give to Dr. Kaver's team. Not only is the skill incredible, but their concern for my comfort, facilitation of my travel even to the extent of day tours and availability of religious services is commendable. I will post pictures as soon as I am able. If I might be of assistance to anyone, please contact me. Lauralisi  (Sep 7, 2013 | post #4461)

Hi, RJ, I would like to post my photos when I'm all done. Frankly, I don't know how. Thankfully I live next door to a couple of kids who can help me! Were it not for kids, I'd *still* have a VCR flashing 12:00.... 12:00..... 12:00...... :-D  (Sep 1, 2013 | post #4425)

The credit goes to the folks who shared their information and experiences on this board, my dentist and my hygienist. What a plethora of knowledge is available to those who seek it! To those who are still in the process of choosing, these steps may help: 1. What do you want/need? Most of us know already. The choice is frequently a question of detail. 2. Read the experiences of others. We know a shill when we see/hear one. I would prefer someone who stands to gain nothing except the knowledge that (s)he is "paying it forward". 3. It's easy to see which dentist(s) you want to avoid. 4. I would avoid Mexico. Now, don't get mad. I live and work 35 miles from the border. (That's driving distance. I could have saved even more money.) I was aware of the dangers 18mo before the US press picked up on it. There is *still* much danger, but there is a concerted effort to muzzle the info. However, I hear *daily* from people whose families are affected. 5. I already checked out Peru and Ecuador-forget it. The clinics I investigated sent me treatment plans which sacrificed quality dental work for a quick fix at very low prices. Even I could see this. After consultation with my hygienist, this was confirmed. 6. Pick a dentist who has done work on people who MUST have it done right. That was a big plus in my choice of Dr Kaver. Actors, Newscasters, Talk-show hosts, etc must have quality dental work. Their livelihoods depend on it. Of course, there are other wonderful dentists too. 7. Just do it. Why are you waiting? Best of luck to you all, Lauralisi  (Aug 29, 2013 | post #4416)

Hi, RJ, You are faaarrrr from an idiot, my friend. I never had heard of surface texture either, until today when Dr. Kaver discussed it with me. You see, great minds *do* think alike :-D  (Aug 29, 2013 | post #4415)

Hello, again, Day 3 was a good day. I asked Dr. Kaver about my color selection of B-1. (I appreciate the caveat, RJ). He believes that would be a reasonable choice for me because my skin is so light. However, If I don't like it, he can change it. This really puts my mind at ease. If my skin were darker, the tooth could be a darker color and the contrast between teeth and skin would give me the same effect. I'm just glad I'll have some wiggle room if the color is not to my liking! Today a number of impressions were taken and and my gums were examined to determine what gum contouring would enhance the appearance of the teeth. This took longer than I expected, but the ceramicist and doctor were in there together, considering my mouth as if it were a work of art. I appreciate their efforts so much. Some people might become complacent in their work, but it is obvious that these folks are artists! Still no pain, but I am taking Ibuprofen 3 times daily. This leaves me alert to enjoy the sights of this lovely country. Thank you so much for your encouragement to come here for my dental work. Lauralisi  (Aug 28, 2013 | post #4411)

Hi, again, All, Just got back from my second day with Dr. Kaver and team. Today the lower teeth were reduced in preparation for the crowns. Once again local anesthesia was administered. It seemed to wear off more quickly than on the top arch, but all I had to do was signal and more local was used. As before, everyone was attentive to my comfort. There were adequate staff so that time was not wasted. There were a number of Americans in the waiting room. They had received dental services of all types, including implants. Not one person had a single complaint about his treatment or results. Also, Dr. Kaver has done a number of Miss Costa Rica contestants, actors and TV Personalities. How do you like that? I'm right up there with the rich and famous but at a very affordable price *and* skill which I've not seen surpassed. Today I selected the color (B-1). Since I'm starting from scratch I can finally have that "Hollywood Smile" that I've always wanted. Again, there has been no real pain. Any discomfort is completely controlled with Ibuprofen. Tomorrow will be a short return visit to discuss the shape, length and a few other particulars. This is so exciting. My dream is coming true. Will post later, Lauralisi  (Aug 27, 2013 | post #4406)

Dentist in Costa Rica

Hello, All, I just got back from my first visit to Dr Luis Kaver's office. It was a 10min walk from Hotel Colaye. To understand my situation, I have healthy gums, but ugly teeth which I've ground down over the years-even grinding in the daytime! Of course a night guard and a type of daytime appliance (can't remember the name) will be needed. Kudos to Dr Kaver for his thorough explanations and for his willingness to answer questions. My local dentist and hygienist had prepared me for what was to happen-they are champs! I like Dr Kaver very much and am quite comfortable with him.. Dr. Kaver gave me 2 options, but I chose the more extensive one which will crown all 28 teeth and open the bite a bit. Because the grinding had destroyed pretty much most of the back teeth, my local dentist was worried that soon the nerves would be involved causing a lot of pain. The office was clean and the staff were very attentive, demonstrating much concern for my comfort. Today impressions were done on upper and lower arch. Then, local anesthesia was used after which the top teeth were reduced to make room for the crowns. There was some discomfort, but no real pain. A temporary top arch was made and I left the office 4 hours later-looking better with the temporary arch than with my "before" teeth. Tomorrow, they'll do the bottom arch. The permanent crowns will be 10 on top and 10 on bottom of porcelain without metal. The rest of the back teeth will be of porcelain fused to metal. Hope I covered the highlights. Will post more later. As always, if you have questions, ask. Toothfully yours, Lauralisi  (Aug 26, 2013 | post #4403)
