Everyone you mention also has a purpose in their respective region, outside of writing. Not sure which James Warren you mean, but author Rick Warren has his own church. O'Reilly is a news commentator (who lives where he grew up) on Long Island and works in the city. If you have something like that, of course you'll need to be in a major city. Most bestselling fiction authors do not live in NYC or LA. They live where they like, from Koontz (Newport Beach, CA), to McCammon(Birmingha m, AL), and beyond. Sharyn McCrumb, lives in a little place around Roanoke. Diana Palmer, mega-author in romance, lives in a little place in TN. I have no interest in moving, myself, so TY, but that's okay.  (Nov 30, 2013 | post #173)

Well, Success, at least I use my name. Who are you hiding behind that screen name?  (Nov 29, 2013 | post #160)

Readers determine the author's merit. Period. There's nothing more to be said. It doesn't matter if the author is in Los Angeles or Siberia. Geography means nothing, otherwise all writers who lived in those cities would be bestsellers. They're not.  (Nov 29, 2013 | post #159)

No, you still didn't address the issue of Barbara Kingsolver, who lives in Abingdon. I don't believe she has private jets and a personal limo. Stephen King has never been on Oprah's book list, either. Kingsolver has. Even if you aren't a fan of Oprah, that's still up there with the NYT bestseller list.  (Nov 29, 2013 | post #153)

Nope, sorry. I don't do romance. Or coming-of-age fiction.  (Nov 29, 2013 | post #152)

Yes, if you hold the deed, you own the property. No, I don't know of any authors who want to live in a big city for the sake of it. There's absolutely no need, at all. The internet stopped that for most artists in every field, painting, music, sculpture, etc. Most authors have no contact with film professionals. If a book is picked up by a film company, the publisher usually handles the details. I'm sure if you need to interview people it adds to travel expenses, but you have to write that kind of material for it to be an issue. Fiction authors, in particular, have no need for interviewing, unless it's book research, which is usually done over the phone or via email. Few professionals have the time to sit down for an interview during business hours, unless it's some special project. Most won't for nothing more than a fiction writer's questions.  (Nov 29, 2013 | post #151)

They've been in my family for over 100 years. I'm not on a high horse of any kind, simply stating facts. You are not Judge, Jury, and Executioner, either.  (Nov 28, 2013 | post #139)

You can judge what you like, but you have no influence on me. I'd be careful about throwing that first stone, myself. Say what you like, as well. So, you've studied what? I didn't ask you to look at anything, nor do you decide what I am in anything. No, sorry. Unless of course you also think authors like Barbara Kingsolver just isn't a success because she lives in Abingdon. She's been in Oprah's book club. Let's see, Sharyn McCrumb? A Virginia resident. Or we could go on beyond Virginia. Stephen King? Lives in his tiny Maine hometown. Scott Nicholson, Boone, North Carolina. I mean really if an author values their "hometown " they will usually live there. No, you don't have to move anywhere. Maybe in 1920, but not in the 21st Century. Of course John Fox, Jr. didn't have to move, either. Strange.  (Nov 28, 2013 | post #138)

Sorry. Been with a few publishing houses, not counting a venture of my own. Successful authors live anywhere they please, and I happen to love my mountains. That's a pretty ridiculous assumption, authors aren't enslaved by geography. I don't live in BSG, but I do live in SWVA.  (Nov 28, 2013 | post #133)

You accuse me of lying, then you state you aren't involved, but you then admit you are involved. The majority of the posts have been nothing more than your attacks, the few posts I made (where I could simply talk and not defend myself) merely tried to state a simple position. Get down off the cross, someone else needs the wood. Enjoy your karma.  (Nov 12, 2013 | post #125)

No, you confuse what you don't want to hear with false information. There is a major difference. The only thing you've posted is your opinions, many times. Can't really accuse others of what you are doing, and you haven't called anything out. You continually ignore any sources that you repeatedly requested. That's on you. As I've said 100 times, and you still don't seem to get, no one has belittled Trigiani. Not a single poster has called her names or disrespected her work. Yet, you continue to disrespect me and other posters. I'm sure there's a 12-step program somewhere for those who don't meet with your approval. I think I'll survive. Again, it's a public forum, so your behavior and it's reflection on the film you're involved in, is on you.  (Nov 12, 2013 | post #119)

Lol. You've filled these pages with melodramatic hysterics. How many times have you used "liar" alone? The convenient inability to follow a link posted multiple times, oh but you can follow others just fine? And then accuse me of "negativity " for simply trying to state we need to look inward for growth and prosperity? You've wagered a contrived argument. Well, you obviously can't make it through a simple adult discussion on a message board without resorting to name-calling. That's not saying too much about what you can make it through.  (Nov 12, 2013 | post #117)

It's not half as amusing as watching you meltdown about such ridiculous matters. You would never make it on a real hot-button issue forum.  (Nov 11, 2013 | post #111)

You only prove my point. You attack for what I said and nothing more. I don't know that you served in anything, or did anything that you posted. Can you prove it? Where's your sources since none of the rest of us can speak without them? I don't like you're tone, either. No, you are the troll and want nothing that might help our people. You are the liar. And you're using ridiculous posts to bring attention to the movie. I guess all PR is good PR, but do you really want people to know that you, someone related to the film, is so closed-minded and intolerant as to go after your neighbors? And you really think I'm the bad guy in that one?  (Nov 11, 2013 | post #106)

Where on earth did you get those articles were about Trigiani? Are you mad? As I said several times, I posted the Trigiani links repeatedly and wasn't going to post them any longer. I cited articles and discussions about the stereotypes and stigmas I "invented. " That's a pretty elaboration invention, don't you think? No, you respond because of the reasons I said. There has to actually be a lie to point it out. It's much better to be "know it all" than "know nothing." I can't believe you actually think you can silence someone with elementary cyberstalking techniques. I've been online since 1999. Far greater people have tried much worse than you. Would be quite a scandal if word got around that those connected with the film were bullying locals, wouldn't it? You've certainly left a wide range of evidences, just on this thread. Slander, name-calling, threats, intimidation, would be interesting to see everyone come forward whose had similar problems.  (Nov 10, 2013 | post #102)
