Doctor accused of inappropriate exam behavior to return t...

I have seen Dr. Sparks on several occasions and she has always been professional, kind and courteous. I can’t say the same about the reporter who wrote the story. I have seen and overheard her at town council meetings. I also watched her get into a vehicle with Colorado license plates. Unless I am misinformed, when you move to this state you are required by law to get New Mexico plates and a New Mexico driver’s license. If you do read the Sun-News, no doubt you are confused on where to vote and in which election not to mention just who is running against whom. Granted the Silver City Daily Press is a little on the thin side but they generally get the facts straight.  (Nov 29, 2009 | post #26)

Voice of the People: Explain gas prices differences

While you have your congress person on the phone, ask they why no one seems to be doing anything about the cruption in the Deming Police department. We have to worry enough about the hoodlums selling drugs and alcohol to our children without the cops doing it.  (Nov 18, 2009 | post #9)

Silver City doctor faces ethics violation

The Sun-News hThe Sun-News once again has proved that it has lost its integrity. They seem to believe it is ok to ruin a person’s life and business based on accusations. When these accusations are proved to be false, and they will be, I sincerely hope that Dr. Sparks sues not only the publication for damages but also sues the reporter personally who wrote the story. I am sure the reporter is ignorant to the fact that under New Mexico law where when a judgment is entered by a court, your pay check can be garnished until the balance is paid. I think if more people sued and stood up for their rights, this type of sloppy journalism would end. It tends to hit home when it comes out of your own pocket.  (Aug 31, 2009 | post #12)

Silver City doctor faces ethics violation

I have always found Dr. Sparks to be a first class doctor and person. Anyone want to take bets that she is cleared and the Sun-News gets sued as the Silver City Daily Press did a few years ago?  (Aug 30, 2009 | post #4)

My questions is what happened to "On the Trail"? I miss reading it. Did like so many others at the Sun-News, did Sam Conn leave?  (Aug 24, 2009 | post #10)

Local News

I noticed in a recent Sun-News article on lodger’s tax that Nancy Johnson is listed as the co-owner of the Palace Hotel. It came as a bit of a shock to me as Nancy is THE owner of the Place Hotel. Actually, considering all the mistakes in the Sun-News recently, it was not that much of a surprise. I also noticed that the Sun-News is now looking for it’s readers to write stories for the newspaper. That could well be an improvement. At least they might be correct. Which leads to another question? What happened to Levi Hill, Holly Wise and now I have noticed that Sam Conn has disappeared from the pages of Sun-News. Is the thing going down the crapper or what? Granted the Silver City Daily Press may not have much but what it does is generally correct. KOAT basically plugged the plug when Larry Behrens moved to Santa Fe. It is truly sad to see our local media (or what’s left of it) in such a VERY sad shape!  (Aug 16, 2009 | post #1)

where did the money go? sounds likes someone needs to go to jail. in grant county, yea right! maybe the jail can move their boxing matches over to the senior center and sell tickets to raise $$$ to feed the old folks. talking about jail, what is wrong with that picture. they have plenty to eat and yet the seniors don't? god bless america.  (May 16, 2009 | post #2)

Vehicle hit in shooting Wednesday

i have to say i mostly aggree with observer and country boy. its the parents and a chicken shit local district attorney that are the root of the problem. i also heard that the sun-news reporter that was with the mayor and town manager at the park during the shooting was assulted at his office the day after the shooting by a gang-banger parent and the police were called there. so, parents and a crappy d.a. get my vote for this mess. not the police.  (May 15, 2009 | post #14)

4Real, I do agree with you on the retaliation thing, that is real and it also comes with standing up for what you believe in. Grant County is well know for that. Curious, go to a gun range and listen to the difference in the sound a revolver and a semi-auto make and how fast they can be fired. Why do you think most law enforcement & military don't carry revolvers? And you and silverkind are right. Protect yourself, no one is going to do it for you.  (May 15, 2009 | post #10)

Why wouldn’t the reporter print the name? Most names of people that make comments to the news media are used. It is called creditable journalism. You can bet you ass if a t.v. station was there, every kid in the park would have been lining up to talk. It is really sad and shocking that the event happened at all and where the “Blue Festival” will be in just a couple of weeks. The reason most stuff goes the way it does in Grant County is because people don’t talk to the media.  (May 14, 2009 | post #6)
