uhhh.... I think the original comment was in relation to the phrase "spare the rod, spoil the child" which doesn't mean to say you SHOULD spoil the child, but that you should use punishment to NOT spoil the child. The comma is more of a "then" than it is an "and."  (Jun 24, 2011 | post #12)

"Arshot has said that the half-mile track, plus the research center and a possible hotel and restaurant, would generate at least 300 full- and part-time jobs." I'm glad to see so many common sense comments on this! "Noise" is not NEARLY as big of an issue as the lack of jobs on the near west side. Its projected to bring in 300 jobs DIRECTLY from the project... and think about all the other businesses that this could bring to the area... even if just fast food. Anyone who's driven through that area is aware of the DRASTIC change those people need.  (Jun 24, 2011 | post #40)

Not to make light of the situation, but I see on their website they offer free showers to the homeless... I think we can ALL agree that this is a vital service.  (Jun 23, 2011 | post #14)

1. It's still clear you haven't done any research. 2. Considering I'm a grad student studying this sort of thing, I'm willing to bet my understanding of it is greater than yours. If what you've written on here is an example of your level of understanding, I'll bet cash! 3. THAT IS NOT THE BENEFIT OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Studies have proven that the attempts to "lessen" traffic rarely work. Why's that? Cause if you make it easier to get somewhere, more people will start to show up. So, what are the benefits for cities when they have more people traveling through them? Think harder. THERES AN ECONOMIC BENEFIT! So assuming you aren't retired, an economic boost will benefit you as well. If you are retired, then it'll benefit your children and grandchildren. Without you ever having to step on a bus. Also, the thing about our cost of educating our children vs Japan's is NOT an example of economy of scale. Two completely different markets.  (Jun 23, 2011 | post #117)

I agree, and the parents WERE concerned, the two sets of parents talked to each other than the slightly older boys parents tried to get him help! It never should have been a criminal issue!  (Jun 22, 2011 | post #74)
