My children attended the Camden-Fairview schools for several years. I felt that most of the teachers were competent and caring and that my children received quality instruction. What I also saw was that the factor that made the biggest difference in how the kids did in school was parental involvement. Parents who worked with their children at home, reinforced the rules of the schools, made their children attend school regularly, etc. were the ones that time, and time again, had kids that did well and excelled. Unfortunately, children who did not receive this type of home encouragement and help suffered - and so did their classmates who couldn't progress as quickly. I have also lived in other states. Camden is not able to offer the variety of subjects and programs that bigger school districts might have, but generally the programs they offer are of good quality. (May 5, 2008 | post #2)
