Ecuador Plans To Call Mining Tender In April - Government

So I guess its okay with the government taking over the minerals under the earth and destroying the environment and the water. Guess people have no idea the ramifications of strip mining and what the toxic chemicals that are needed that will destroy the water supply and make the water undrinkable and kill anything that will swim in it!  (Apr 1, 2012 | post #1)

A Lesson from Ecuador

Well, join the socialist Correa marking bank, and you, Correa, and Thugo and take off Republic in the name of your country! And welcome to it! Correa has put blinders on you and your to blind to see what is going on. It is all smoke and mirrors! You don;t like what I post? Then stop reading what I post...very easy actually!  (Mar 30, 2012 | post #5)

A Lesson from Ecuador

So what about the Radio Stations that Correa has closed? what about the constitution that says you can't say anything bad about the President? What about the newspapers that have been closed? What about the TV channel that Correa has to spew out his parties propaganda every day? There is martial law in the US, got a link to prove it? Your still clueless!  (Mar 29, 2012 | post #3)

Indian anti-mining activists claim harassment

Your living in your own world without any reality. The copper mining operations have are being done the Chinese, not Canadians. No need to talk about Correa and what he did with free food and paying $20.00 as you have blinders on and not willing to see a Republic become a dictatorship with Correa having all the power!  (Mar 29, 2012 | post #5)

Indian anti-mining activists claim harassment

At the protest yesterday, Correa bought his protestors. Feed them with free food and gave each of them $20.00! In order to make this copper mine happen they have to cut the top off the mountain, dig down 800 meters and 1.5 meters wide. (Terraced fashion). Once mined the soil and rock has to be mixed with water and chemicals. Don;t ask where this contaminated water ends up....this will be the first of the destruction of the Amazon as we know it. Many more mines are to be developed!  (Mar 23, 2012 | post #3)

Protesting natives shut down Ecuador capital

Raffy said yesterday that if 100,000 indigenous people protested in Quito, he would have 500,000 protestors supporting him! So today he set up two stages for his protestors, feed all of them for FREE, and also gave each one $20.00! Talk about stacking the deck! Also this mining operation that he paid the chinese $10 billion, will cut down a mountain in the Amazon. The mining company will make a hole 800 meters deep into the mountain, and 1.5 meters wide. Bye bye mountain and bye bye clean water.....  (Mar 22, 2012 | post #1)

Insurers speed health care overhaul preparations

Funny how people post stuff that isn't related to the article, or to life in general. President Obama did not start the wars in Iraq or afghanistan. If you want to hang anyone for war crimes, it ought to be Bush and company! Surprised you did not ask for his 'real' birth certificate either!  (Mar 22, 2012 | post #5)

Indian anti-mining activists claim harassment

"We don't want to destabilize the government, never," Cholango said. "What we want is for the government to hear our voice of protest against large-scale mining and in defense of our water." Like Native Americans in the USA, Correa's government has taken the Indigenous peoples rights away and in the end the Amazon will be lost not only to Ecuador but to the world.  (Mar 21, 2012 | post #1)

Stability and quality of life living in Ecuador

From what I know, 'supposedly', Manta is becoming the second expat area of Ecuador. Since your going to Manta anyways, your best bet is to find out the info on your own. Manta is small so it should not be a problem. While there go to Canoa and have lunch at the Cafe Flor near the ocean. Great food and one of their daughters teach english. Other siblings live in the USA!  (Mar 21, 2012 | post #72)

A Lesson from Ecuador

“This struggle for free speech in Ecuador as well as in Venezuela is pretty basic,” José Miguel Vivanco of Human Rights Watch told the Times. “It’s driven and motivated by an effort to concentrate power and to intimidate and harass critics by representing them as promoters of lies.” Could not have said it any better!  (Mar 19, 2012 | post #1)

Drilling for Oil in Eden: Initiative to Save Amazon Rainf...

'“In the past they died of horrible diseases and only lived about 40 years, but now they can live to their 70′s.' " Whats missing in this article is the fact that when the Spanish invaded Ecuador, the indigenous peoples never had the diseases that the Spanish brought. They were living good lives before the white man arrived. I have posted before that Correa will drill in Yasuni National Park, regardless if he gets all of the funds or not!  (Mar 17, 2012 | post #1)

Importing a cars to ecuador

I only know of companies in Miami, FL. It is easy enough to do a google search to locate shippers and get rates. Keep in mind that you can only ship a new car into Ecuador.  (Mar 15, 2012 | post #85)

Iran: New demand on nuke inspections

So just like China! A communist country that controls your life and internet options and what you read in the newspapers. Bet your have no clue what is actually happening in Tibet and don't care. Americans have many outlets to discover what the real news is, and it isn't from the national news or the government. Again, you offer nothing to the discussion!  (Mar 15, 2012 | post #4)
