Eric Gordon expected to turn pro Monday

What a joke? This guy is not ready. Greed has made his father push this move. NBA doe not care about these kids. Someone will make him a project due to his natural talent, but if he does not react to the pressure well, just like he has folded since Sampson left IU, he will be 3 years and out, probably his money will be gone and still no education. I honestly hope I get this one wrong. Another reason K Sampson should be banned from coaching kids.  (Apr 4, 2008 | post #1)

Indiana Hoosiers NCAA Basketball

Hoosiers pick Marquette's Crean as new coach -- Sports, N...

Well, he is better than the last 4 coaches, yes I said four, but he must be willing to reestablish the program from scratch as it is in a defunct condition now. Sanctions or not, recruiting will be tough for a while and the best one could probably want from the team the next 2 to 4 years are NIT appearances. Will the fans and alumni wait? I doubt it, but if they do, he could raise this program to upper division of Big 10, maybe.  (Apr 2, 2008 | post #48)

Arkansas runs past Indiana

Gordon, NBA? That joke is getting old. I do not understand why any team in the NBA would consider a quitter and a choker for their team. Prima Donnas, there are plenty already in the league, no need for another. Good luck to White he deserves a great career and is built for it.  (Mar 22, 2008 | post #19)

Hoosiers' season of drama ends with a whimper

OK the big collapse is over, PLEASE no more IU articles this year. Concentrate on Butler Purdue and Notre Dame!!!!! Go Dawgs. Bye, bye Hoosiers. It was a typical recent IU performance, no heart, no effort and no way they win. Thanks DJ for giving your all for 4 years in the Big Ten. The rest of you, BOO!  (Mar 22, 2008 | post #3)

Seeding committee does IU no favors

Can't please you, nothing but IU in my last post, and this forum is all about opinions, but you seem to feel that only yours count. I do as you ask, didn't mention that Indianapolis fine college and you still are on my case. I said something positive about the only player I still respect on the IU team.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #382)

Bush Defends War's "High Cost In Lives"

Sure, GW defends his decisions, because he could care less about those lives given for this ridiculous attempt of the administration to admit they have no plan to end terrorism in the world, they have no clue how to find Bin Laden, they have no clue on how to get the economy on track, they have no clue period. I only took high school economics, but I can see that the continued attempts of this administration to lower interest rates is only causing the dollar to be worth less and less daily, it is not saving the mortgage industry, who made their own bed with the ridiculous low price loans and now are repossessing all those properties when people can't pay, but are unable to sell said properties. As the dollar value goes down, inflation and prices go up. Who benefits? Oil companies, overseas industry and stock market moguls. The common American only pays more money out of pocket and charges more on credit cards to keep up. Balance the Budget, quit spending money on worthless pork barrel projects, and get the troops and out money out of Iraq and watch the dollar value go up, prices and inflation go down. Hurry up 2009 and get this numbskull out of office.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #798)

Seeding committee does IU no favors

OK, only IU discussion, I can do that. IU is very lucky to have an 8 seed after their performance over the games after Sampson was removed. They played selfishly without any heart or desire to win, with the exception of White who is a true player who will have a great career in the NBA, combining skill with determination. Dakich is being treated on this discussion panel like an evil satan coach without any skill. That is ridiculous. All he did was apply for an open job, a chance to prove his coaching skills. Mistakenly, he thought he would inherit players that were adults, that would accept the fact that their coach had screwed up and got caught. What he got, instead, were a bunch of crybabies whose daddy had been taken away. He should have walked into his first practice, and let them know that he was the boss now. Those players that skipped that practice should have been benched the next game and run laps for a few hours. He should have ordered all the players to get the KS paint off their shoes immediately and act like the adults they are who are getting a full ride scholarship to a fair midwestern college to get an education. In return, they are required to play a game to the best of their ability every time they go on the court. So put the blame where it belongs, on the players and on Kelvin Sampson. Don't whine about a seed that they earned by their poor play. If you can, go out and beat Arkansas, and I would love to see them go out and upset the overhyped NC TarHeels. I will root for them to do so, but I refuse to pick them in a bracket, because they have given me no reason over the season to show that they are capable of doing so. One UPSET victory over Purdue doesn't qualify them any higher seed for sure. Now that's an Indiana basketball discussion.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #380)

Veasley fills need off Butler bench

Willie has supplied a lot of wonderful minutes this year. His vertical leaping ability is something to behold and he will be an important part of this NCAA tourney. He plays inspired defense and plays about 4 or 5 inches taller than he is. If I had to give him advice it would be not to get so down on himself when he makes a mistake, you make up for them by making the next play. Take care of Tennessee and beyond. By the way, I now think Bob Golic is a genius.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #7)

'Idol' party rocks for Overmyer

Well, I had lost interest last year which almost made me believe all of the talent in America had been used up. I am back this year though, and I think these contestants are the best since season one. I love the way Amanda rocks, but then my favorite all time women singers are Janis Joplin and Grace Slick. I put this girl in the same talent category and believe she could reach that stature in the rock world. Last night I though she and Ayesha were the top two performers. I also enjoyed all the other girls. Sorry guys, you were OK, with Eze my fovorite, but I hope it comes down to three girls, Amanda, Ayesha and the Irish Lass.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #42)

I don't mind answering your statements. I constantly read IU fans on this INDY STAR board knock Butler's programs, Butler fans, Bulter coaches, but get bent out of shape when Butler fans fight back. If you cannot understand what I mean about the IU administration getting it together, the program will be dead for a long time, then you have not paid attention the past few years; bad hiring, poor recruiting practices, poor overall decision making from university presidents to AD's to coaches, to players. I believe the program can rebuild as soon as it understands the need to rebuild. Then and only then can Indiana be considered a national power again. I restate the obvious to all who continue to comment. This IS NOT an IU board, it is an Indianapolis Star Sports comments board. Yes, the subject is IU basketball, but comments are for ALL readers not just Hoosier fans.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #377)

OK, I am POSITIVE that this is the Indy Star board, not the IU board, I am POSITIVE IU has a dying program that if someone in the administration doesn't geton the stick will be dead for a long time, and I am POSITIVE Butler is the better team. Not a hater, a fact stater.  (Mar 18, 2008 | post #364)

Butler beware; Kentucky gets a break

I was surprised at the KY selection too, but then I filled out my brackets. Yeh, I fill out too many of them, but I usually win one or two a year, too. I actually picked KY several times to get to the elite 8, if they can perform like they did against Tenn. Hey, argue over it or not, KY gets a break most years, as does NC getting the East regional most years. Duke getting a one or two, deserved or not. The Lute Olsen factor gets AZ in no matter what. UCLA gets an easier seeding than they deserve most years (not this year, they earned it), and so on, and so on. IU used to get the same breaks when Knight was in his prime (before he lost his mind). You can't change it, so just enjoy the tourney.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #11)

By the way, for those who commented, this i not an IU message board, this is an Indianapolis Star comment board. IU is in Bloomington. You have no message boards in the Indianapolis Star. The boards are for everyone to comment on Star stories.  (Mar 17, 2008 | post #330)
