GOod luck with the stool test elaine for you and your son. I have had the test and am deifnitely H PYlori clear though still having trouble. Ive been looking into SIBO- small intestinal bacterial overghrowth- apparently it underlies the majority of cases of Irritable bowel syndrome and can cause liver trouble also. I had a hospital referral recently and i am being given an ultrasound  (Jan 25, 2008 | post #102)

Hi Lee , thanks for the update, and glad you are now free of this awful problem. I didnt take probiotics during triple therapy i think that was my downfall lol Elaine, have you been tested to see if H PYlori is cleared or not? can I ask what kind of symptoms you are having? I am now definitely H PYlori clear but am still having trouble, though the symtpoms have a different slant. MIght be interesting to compare notes. Lance  (Jan 24, 2008 | post #100)

Helicobacter Pylori - Information

Hi everyone. Has anyone had H PYlori eradicated, but still have a continuation of some symptoms, in some cases a worsening, in particular regarding the bowel? I have read somewhere that a large amount of cases of people who are labelled as having Irritable Bowel syndrome actually suffer from SIBO - Small intestine bacterial overgrowth. does this strike a chord with anyone?  (Jan 23, 2008 | post #257)

HI, i did the antibiotic treatment for H Pylori and i had no side effects at all. I dont really understand how people cant stick to the treatment regime for two weeks, when u consider some people have taken drugs with side effects for years on end and tolerated them.  (Jan 9, 2008 | post #5)

People who peddle the alternate remedies tend to promote the idea that the antibiotic treatments are harmful. Alternative therapies are good, only if they work. Every alternative therapy i have tried to remedy my gastric problems have been a total waste of money, one remedy in particular was a scandalous rip off. If anyone has found natural remedies that have CURED their problems, as opposed to just providing temporary relief id be very interested to know.  (Dec 12, 2007 | post #95)

Helicobacter Pylori

Helicobacter Pylori - Information

HI Robbie. YOu are right people dont seem to come back with results. However what i have found from people i speak to , most either are found to be clear of H Pylori but their symptoms continue. Or they have treatment, their doctors tell them its a guaranteed cure, their symptoms continue, then a while later they are retested and they are found to still have it My symptoms at moment are worse than ever, especially the abdominal swelling. After a Urea breath test , i was found clear of H PYlori recently, however i really am not sure. I have heard that this test can bring inconsistent results, namely false negative results. As a consewqucne, i have sent off to a private screening company for a stool antigen test ( this is the most conclusive and unfortunately my medical practise doesnt provide it)- i shall do this test this week and i will post the result A further factor to muddy the waters is that, apparently, a lot of people actually have H PYlori , or so it is claimed, yet they dont all have symptoms. THis raises the question whether it is a matter of other factors at play, or whether it is a matter of the bacteria being active or not as opposed to present or not. I know ten years ago i had a bout of gingivitis ( gum infection), which i have heard can be linked to H Pylori. It is only this year that my gastric symtpoms emerged and i tested positive for H PYlori. Sorry for the long message  (Dec 9, 2007 | post #248)

HI Elaine, Lee and geraldine and everyone else. Elaine, i had the triple therapy for one week. I recently had a Urea breath test which im told came back negative, to be honest im not even sure if i believe my doctor when she told me this. I am going to send away to a screening company in oxford for a private stool antigen test. My symptoms at moment are worse than they have ever been, unfortunately i have two rectum obsessed doctors who insist i have IBS regardless of symptoms, or the fact that IBS treatments have no effect on me. Geraldine , can i ask what the four antibiotics are that you take in quadruple therapy?  (Dec 6, 2007 | post #88)

HI Lee glad the triple therapy seems to have worked for you . Has your bloating gone too?  (Dec 3, 2007 | post #84)

Helicobacter Pylori

H Pylori

Hi Elaine, i found earlier this year, if i avoided alcohol my symptoms were pretty much neutral- certainly manageable. Now it makes no difference and teh bloating is worse than ever. It doesnt help when in my case, the doctors involved are unsympathetic. I have been asked if i just have trapped wind, or ive been told that my symptoms are non existant. Apparently many people have HP PYlori present , they dont all have symptoms though. I do wonder if there are other factors at play.I do find it difficult though since i started reading these threads working out any kind of logical patterns, the symptoms and patters are so variable with different people.  (Dec 1, 2007 | post #82)
