Of course, I stuck to the 1988 adaptation where there is no question who Arthur and Amy are.  (Jan 13, 2011 | post #58)

Little Dorrit on Facebook

Facebook will not allow creation of additional page, so I will have to be patient with my present 'Clennam and Company Writers Workshop'. I am presently putting stories there, but I soon hope to have Little Dorrit studies and reviews there as well. The name's Clennam...Arthur Clennam!  (Apr 28, 2010 | post #2)

Change of plans. Facebook will not let me set up a group at the moment, so please refer to the group I already have on Facebook, Clennam and Company Writers Workshop.  (Apr 8, 2010 | post #56)

Little Dorrit on Facebook

I will be creating a Little Dorrit page for Facebook. Are any of you interested? I will plan it not only as a discussion site for LD fans but also a place for answering plot and character questions as well. Since I am well-read on the Little Dorrit novel, I am eager to provide assistance to others who may not be as well-read. Otherwise, greetings to Club Macfadyen from this very generous Jacobite... lois ponton (my name on facebook)  (Apr 7, 2010 | post #1)

That's the question-if they want to read. However, I have transferred my operation to Facebook and will soon be setting up a Little Dorrit page there.  (Apr 7, 2010 | post #55)

Chapter 14: Recovering Again Arthur, now lying on the bed, and the attacker is identified as Amy comes home as the household is settled that the mystery is solved, and soon is of attendance to Arthur. Arthur is in severe pain, and Affery quietly tends to him. Talk of a trial, and assurance Arthur's attendance would not be required. Hope of improvement in condition when trial is scheduled. Arthur is much better, and has hopes of justice being done at trial. Formal announcement of trial, with death penalty set at conviction.  (Jan 1, 2010 | post #40)

PBS airs Dickens 'Little Dorrit' on Masterpiece

I made a mistake. Only five have played Arthur Clennam. One by one, they are: William Russell (1913) Born: April 12, 1884, the Bronx, N.Y. Little Dorrit Nominated 'Most Emmy's Ever' for Masterpiece

That is true. Though I do feel Derek should have been given a bit of a chance. Was it Dustin Hoffman who won the Best Actor Oscar in 1988? Derek did win a Best Actor award for AC from the Evening Standard Awards. And yes, Arthur got the girl. That has made it pleasurable writing the Little Dorrit sequel, though I just wonder what people will think of it from reading or (hopefully) watching the film  (Sep 23, 2009 | post #82)

As to being snubbed, it's happened before. Derek Jacobi got ignored with the same role in the 1988 Oscar nominations (when the only person recognized was Alec Guinness) even when the poor thing "acted his heart out". Real acting seems to be the problem. And, then, there is still some people who consider Arthur Clennam a boring, lifeless character... GRRRR!!!!  (Sep 21, 2009 | post #65)

PBS airs Dickens 'Little Dorrit' on Masterpiece

Whatever comes out at the Emmys, I can at least assure you of something: Matthew is part of Dickensian film history of being one of only six men to play the part of Arthur Clennam on film.  (Sep 19, 2009 | post #21)

Just returned to Topix today. Topix has been rather evil to me the past few months. Like if I was missed...  (Sep 18, 2009 | post #19)

If you had not noticed the Victoria Park Mystery series on this forum, I added a new twist to the story. It proves that if you want to rewrite the parentage of a child, make sure ALL of their relatives are dead- and none left alive to tell the story to the child later grown into a man.  (Sep 18, 2009 | post #51)
